Old chicken makes good soup
Nowadays audio interfaces may sport a little better dynamics, good look and animated leds but essentially there is nothing new in terms of sound substance if compared to a Saffire 40. A lot of connection possibilities, nice software control panel, FireWire 400 can be connected to a Thunderbolt port... Sound is a true pleasure to hear, clean and transparent. At the time of purchase was a great step up for my gear. Still happy with it, No reason to upgrade it...

Great Interface
Everything an audio interface intended for the home studio should be and more. I personally really love the zero latency monitoring and the ability to craft complex monitor mixes with it's amazing yet a bit complicated at first glance Mix control software. Only things about this that left me wanting more out of it are the preamps. They're clean but they're a bit dry if I'm being honest. Also the gain staging on the preamps themselves is bit dodgy. I felt like the preamps were gain curved as opposed to a typical linear gain step. Other than that I love this thing!

Saffire Pro 40
I love using this audio interface all the time with changeable sample-rates and also has a lot of components to connect external gear like compressors and effect processors and etc.

Very good except for headphone jacks
Works perfectly well for all my incoming and outgoing audio, but the headphone jacks make noises when moved around.

firewire input can convert to thunderbolt for Mac
The reason I give this 3 stars is because you HAVE to restart your computer once you plug it in. The USB versions you don't. I got this so I could have 2 free usb plugs.

[–]Hugorrrrr 1 poäng 2 månader sen Hello Christoffer :) what soundcard do you use :) and also what sort of midi keyboard if u use one :) permalänkembed [–]LightsandMotionMusicOFFICIAL[S] 2 poäng 2 månader sen Hi! I use a sapphire sound card, and the midi keyboard I don't even know what brand it is haha. I´m more of a "I know how this works so I don´t need to know what´s beneath the hood" kind of guy. Which may seem paradoxical since music producing is a very technical craft haha =)
