    Source
  • For vocal recording, using a Unison preamp with a compressor and plate reverb on monitor doesn't heavily tax the Apollo Twin Duo's DSP.

    Source
  • The Manley Voxbox plugin, which interests some users, consumes approximately 50% of the Duo's DSP capacity.

Universal Audio Apollo Twin USB Interface review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Universal Audio Apollo Twin USB Duo is a game-changer for Windows users, offering stellar performance with real-time plug-in processing and Unison technology, now accessible via USB. Its robust build and excellent sound quality, thanks to 24-bit/192 kHz resolution, make it a top-tier desktop interface. While lacking the ability to chain multiple units—a minor drawback given its two-input focus—the USB inclusion is a welcome touch. The bundled Console 2 software and classic plug-ins provide a solid start, though users might quickly crave more from UA's expansive catalog. Overall, it's a fantastic addition to any PC-based studio.

I LOVE this thing.

Previously owned a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 and this thing kinda blows it away. An interface is an interface so they can both get the job done equally of course, but running my preamp/mic through this thing is so much smoother and clearer. There's way less latency compared to the Focusrite and I love the controls of it. Minus the fact that it doesn't work with Mac, it's a pretty amazing interface upgrade and I'm super happy with it.

I'm wishing on more stars...

There should be - at least - seven stars available to rate this. For a guitarist this is a MUST HAVE. (Almost) no latency and the best digital amps you can play through. Pair it with a console1 and you're best to go.

My setup is simple—most of it is in the box. I'm an Ableton guy, and I use all of the usual suspects like Native Instruments, Spectrasonics, Arturia, u-he, Xfer etc. I work primarily on Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 ohm headphones and use Adam Audio monitors + sub for reference. I use a MOTU Track 16 and Apollo Twin Duo, I have a few midi keyboards, a Nord Electro 5d, a Neumann u87ai mic, a Banshee Talkbox and a bunch of other stuff. When I need any kind of high-end gear, or I need to record horn sections etc, I go to a few different studios around New York City that have some amazing gear and rooms.
