Doepfer Dark Energy

soundonsound.com

Doepfer's Dark Energy synthesizer is a compact, hands-on analogue delight with a sturdy build and impressive sound, reminiscent of vintage synths thanks to its Curtis chip. While the layout is somewhat cramped and lacks a standard glide knob, it offers robust connectivity with MIDI, USB, and CV options. The synth's straightforward design and real analogue sound make it a captivating choice for both studio and live setups, though it might leave those craving more features wanting. Overall, it's a solid 'no frills' choice that will appeal to analogue enthusiasts.

Doepfer Dark Energy review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Doepfer Dark Energy is a compact analogue mono synth that impresses with its robust build and attractive design. It offers rich sound possibilities thanks to its triangle-based oscillator, flexible modulation options, and built-in MIDI-to-CV conversion. While the synth looks and feels great, its lack of LFO re-triggering can make it challenging to create precise rhythms. Despite this minor setback, it excels in providing vintage sounds reminiscent of classic electronic music, making it a strong choice for those seeking a versatile and aesthetically pleasing synth.

This baby is a monster!

Version 1. Sound amazing! just 1 osc but with lots of modulation (it's a semi modular indeed). The envelope can be very snappy, perfect for analog percussion, or soft and creamy. The sound is fat, we love this baby and we use it live controlled by the arturia beatstep pro.
