Critic Reviews

Edirol FA101

soundonsound.com

Edirol's FA-101 is a capable Firewire audio interface with impressive sound quality and low-latency performance, making it a strong contender for both studio and mobile recording. Its versatile analogue connectivity and compact design are commendable, supporting up to six-channel 192kHz operation. However, it lacks custom monitor mixing software, requiring ASIO 2.0 Direct Monitoring for beyond basic zero-latency monitoring. Changing sample rates and buffer sizes is inconvenient as it necessitates a device restart. Despite these drawbacks, the FA-101's affordability and performance make it a solid choice for budget-conscious musicians looking for robust audio solutions.

Excellent interface. Still have two of them.

Top notch kit, top notch quality.

Still use these with Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt to FireWire adaptors. Still work just as they always did.

All the ins and outs you need, 24 bit 192 kHz - no need for anything else is there? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
