Is The Eventide H3000 Still Worth the Hype? | Production Expert

production-expert.com

The Eventide H3000 Ultra Harmonizer Effects Processor still holds its ground in the digital realm. The H3000 MK II Bundle, with its nostalgic skeuomorphic design, charms both old fans and new users with its authentic recreation of classic effects. The bundle, featuring the H3000 Band Delays Mk II and H3000 Factory MK II, captures the essence of the legendary hardware, offering a wealth of presets and customizable options that make it a versatile tool for any DAW. While not the cheapest option at $199, its comprehensive range of effects justifies the price. The updated interface and improved sound quality make this bundle a worthy successor to the original, ensuring the H3000's legacy continues to influence modern music production.

It's Angelic

Like staring into a nebula while a gas giant is going supernova off to your left. And a new galaxy is being created from the clash of two black holes that will bring new life to the universe. A chorus of Angels singing to let the universe know that perfection has been achieved.

All you posers with your other multi-effects processors just can't hang. Just kidding! I love and respect each and every one of you reading this. But seriously, save up and get one of these. I want a second or third one.

"One of the ways we alleviate these issues is by doing the pitch-shifting with an Eventide H3000 harmonizer, which is an amazing, old piece of gear, first released in the late 1980s, and it sounds much better than software."

"Because Burchill is known for his atmospheric tones, it is no surprise that he has experimented with and used several different gear setups throughout his career. The early ‘80s sound came through a Roland 501 Echo unit into a Roland JC120 amp. During the second half of the ‘80s, Burchill switched to Marshall JCM 900 amps, and used a variety of effects including and Eventide Harmonizer, TC Electronic 2290 delay, Roland GP-8, Yamaha Rev 7, and a Kurzweil 250 rack-mount sound module. Burchill used a ‘62 Gretsch White Falcon and a Fender Strat in the studio, and a custom thin-line Telecaster (notably on “Don’t You, Forget About Me”)."

We spend a lot of time on the reverbs on this one...we used the OTO Bam a lot and a bunch of cool chippy verbs from the Eventide H3000 harmonizer. A lot of the reverbs were printed as performances that were "played" by hand, which was fun.

"For effects, Pearson uses a variety of multi-effects units to help create different sonic textures. 'I have a TC M5000 multi-effects unit, a Lexicon 480L reverb, a [Yamaha] SPX-990 multi-effects, a PCM 42 delay and an Eventide H3000 Harmonizer. On Alanis' CDs, she overdubs her voice a lot to create harmonies and textures, so I use a variety of delays and the harmonizer to create different textures between the verses and the chorus. But [I] keep it sounding natural to imply the effect that she uses on the CDs."
