Gretsch G5620T-CB Electromatic Review

guitarniche.com

The Gretsch G5620T-CB Electromatic is a modern classic that marries iconic design with solid build quality. Its wide-body, signature pickups, and Bigsby tailpiece deliver the classic Gretsch twang, perfect for those seeking a vintage vibe. The neck is praised for its playability, and while the guitar is heavier due to its center block, this feature also minimizes feedback at high volumes. However, the tone pots could use improvement, and the pickup height adjustment is cumbersome. Despite minor flaws, the guitar offers great value and versatility for mid-range buyers looking for a standout semi-hollow body.

Great semihollow with sparkly crystalline highs and a surprisingly shreddy neck

The cleans are unbelievably, glassy on the bridge and warm and sparkly on the neck, but what really gets me with this guitar is how well it handles high-gain situations with an incredibly aggressive crunch and bark.

"I had brought out a very stripped down thing, a trio. I had one electric guitar with me and it kept buzzing. I got just tired of it and went to the store. I knew I wanted a semi-hollow body; I wanted it to have a single coil and a humbucker, but four knobs: separate tone and volume for each pickup.

I looked up on the wall and I saw that Gretsch, pulled it down. Did the trick perfectly. Now I have two of them [laughs]. It's a Gretsch Electromatic G5620T with a center block, a Bigsby and the TV Jones pickups."
