A spacious, technically capable planar that trades the original Ananda’s easy grace for more punch and sparkle. Bass gets a welcome lift—cleaner, tighter, and more satisfying than the OG—while staging, layering, and imaging remain big, airy, and impressively holographic for the price. The catch: the stealth tuning also pushes the treble into rougher territory, with extra peaks that can make cymbals, sibilants, and long sessions more fatiguing. Mids stay clear but can sound a bit thin and withdrawn. The reviewer doesn’t call it a bad headphone—far from it—but sees it as more sidegrade than upgrade, especially at the original $700 asking price, with the cheaper Edition XS looming as the better value. At heavy discounts, though, the equation improves a lot.

A bargain-minded winner in HIFIMAN’s lineup, the Ananda Stealth nails the basics: wide, stable staging, clean imaging, smooth fatigue-free treble, and just enough extra bass weight to feel like a real step up from the Edition XS without losing that airy planar character. Comfort is another plus, with a headband some listeners may prefer for long sessions. The catch? Don’t expect luxury extras—the accessories are bare-bones, and if you already own an Edition XS, the upgrade is more refinement than revelation. Treble addicts may also find the Nano a touch more open up top. Still, at around $289, this lands in a sweet spot that’s hard to argue with: balanced, easy to live with, and arguably the smartest buy in HIFIMAN’s midrange.
