After upgrading a bit, these are amazing !!
When you spend hours mixing at night, with headphones on because you don't wanna wake up others, you want something that feels nice on your ears. Although these sound great, a comfort upgrade was necessary, and, because they're modular, I was able to swap out all the parts and upgrade them. I started with the default wired pair, but upgraded to the wireless headband, and the most unbelievably comfortable 2 inch thick pads. I can't remember what the material is called, but they remain cool around your ears, even after wearing them for hours.
Sound-wise, they really do the business. They are honest, very balanced , flat response, uncoloured reference cans and so great at what they do. No studio reference headphones will ever perfectly recreate the experience you get from speakers because the right ear can't hear what the left ear hears, when wearing headphones, and vice versa, but its very easy to get an accurate tonal mix with these, and I wouldn't switch to any other brand now. The charge is awesome too. 2 hours of charge lasts for 16 hours of wireless freedom. Fantastic headphones !!!

Because of your review, I bought the E10 (on ear REPREVE®) ear pads to possibly replace my E02 (on ear PU leather) ear pads. What a difference it's made in terms of not just comfort but also low-mid clarity! Still gonna keep my E02 ear pads around for the times I need the extra isolation. But omg the S10/E10 combo has been absolutely amazing.
I think with the virtual monitoring feature just recently offered in Sonarworks, we can get a pretty good approximation of speakers (assuming one knows how to work on speakers). Though with our AIAIAI TMA-2 configurations being custom, we'd need to create a custom target curve in which frequency response correction is turned off but virtual monitoring is still enabled. It's worked out for me. Maybe it'll work out for you too?
Thanks for taking the time to write your comprehensive review! =)

Perfect indoor and less noisy environment headphone
Young Guru edition have much higher highs than standard TMA-1, can be overwhelming at higher volume. The TMA-2 Studio Monitor Preset (S03- E04) are amazing truly for indoor monitoring, for live club gigs I still prefer the original preset (S02-E02). Will try out the S01 with E02 for noisy club environment soon.
Had the TMA Studio Pros for over a year
These headphones are real value for money. The sound quality for electronic musicians is not hyped and has a very honest bottom end to them plus there great in a dj performance. Also they are a lovely looking pair phones.

Had a chance to try them out and YES they are super flat, was listening to some edm and waiting for the bass to overpower - didn't happen!
Pretty good
Really good built, they do hurt my ears when using for about 20 minutes. Sound is good, loads of bass, but I just use them for dj-ing.

The TMA-2 & HD 25 are essentially direct competitors.
If you went for the AIAIAI S05/E02 combo, then you'd have the closest thing to a HD 25 clone at this time of writing.
For a bass-heavy sound signature, you could get the standard AIAIAI TMA-2 DJ preset.
For something even more neutral than the HD 25, you could get either the S05/E10 or S05/E08 combo (E10 is on ear, while E08 is over ear).
$130.40 - $159.00
Another very popular studio phone that even sees some DJ use sometimes. These are real closed backs; they are far from the TMA's "closed back" isolation. While the TMAs can be disassembled and flat packed, these just simply fold up and become much more compact. These are also much more widely available, especially outside of Europe. They of course lack the modular capability of the TMAs, but replacing the ear cups and cable is just as easy.
$212.00 - $349.00
While it is just the Studio preset with a different headband, the Wireless+ system is a peerless solution that allows wireless, lossless playback from your audio source with no perceptible latency, which is indispensable for musicians who are playing strapped instruments or who have to move around a big studio. You can of course get the headband itself to upgrade an existing set of TMAs with this functionality.
