HIFIMAN Edition XS Audiophile Headphones Reviewed

futureaudiophile.com

The HIFIMAN Edition XS headphones shine with their open-back, planar magnetic design, offering a detailed and expansive soundstage that audiophiles will appreciate, particularly at the accessible price of $269. Their comfortable fit and high-quality sound reproduction make them a compelling choice for home listening. However, their open-back design is less suited for noisy environments, and the build suggests a need for gentle handling. While not the most rugged option, the Edition XS earns high marks for delivering audiophile-grade performance without breaking the bank, making them a sound investment for serious listeners.

HIFIMAN Edition XS Review – The New Step-Up From Mid-Fi? - Home Studio Basics

homestudiobasics.com

The HIFIMAN Edition XS stands out as a stellar performer in the mid-fi headphone market, offering exceptional sound quality and value. Its build and comfort are top-notch, making prolonged listening sessions enjoyable. The sound is praised for its detailed resolution and smooth timbre, providing an immersive experience across various genres. While the mid-range can occasionally feel subdued, the XS compensates with a well-balanced treble and impactful bass. Compared to its predecessors, it offers improvements in tuning without the harshness present in the Ananda. However, its low sensitivity requires a decent amp to drive properly. Overall, the Edition XS delivers an impressive audio experience at a competitive price, making it a worthy investment for audiophiles seeking quality without breaking the bank.

HiFiMAN Edition XS review: more like XL - Soundphile Review

soundphilereview.com

HiFiMAN Edition XS offers a delightful auditory experience at an attractive price point, making them a standout in the sub-$500 category. Their sound quality, featuring deep bass, detailed mids, and balanced treble, makes them versatile for different genres. The design is unique and well-built, though the headband feels a bit underwhelming and can cause discomfort over time. The imaging is impressive, though soundstage and emphasis on the upper midrange might not appeal to everyone. Despite these minor setbacks, the Edition XS remains a remarkable choice for those seeking high-quality planar magnet headphones without breaking the bank.

Excellent headphones for listening to music

The headphones are ideal for listening to pop music and good for jazz. Metal sounds fine. The headphones sound better with an amplifier, but work quite well when connected directly to my laptop. I bought a FiiO amp, but found that these headphones sound just as good when connected to my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. A significant drawback is the fact that hair often gets wrapped around the screws on these headphones. If you have long hair, it's better to choose something else, otherwise they will pull out all your hair.😅
