Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Ibanez MTM2.

User experience

  • Owners with 14+ years of use report that despite not being technically superior, the Ibanez MTM2 feels like "home" due to its familiarity and comfort.

    Source
  • Owners concerned about stand compatibility can rest assured that poly finishes are less likely to suffer damage compared to nitrocellulose.

    Source
  • Players looking to diversify tonal options may consider trading the MTM2 for the LTD, recognizing the trade-off in pickup and bridge preferences.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The guitar is noted for its aggressive aesthetic, which aligns well with heavier musical styles, particularly influenced by Mick Thomson and Slipknot.

    Source
  • The active Duncan-Designed pickups are noted for high output, limiting versatility for players seeking ambient cleans and crunchy rhythms.

    Source

Other

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Ibanez MTM2 is favored for its heavy chugs and bright accents when tuned to Open C, particularly for rock and industrial tones.

kinda junk imho

the one I had had really shitty fretwork. it needed a refret to have all the notes actually sound and i was not willing to invest that much money in fixing a chinese ibanez so i sold it. pickups didn't sound good either. I have yet to play the new jackson model, but I can't imagine it being worse than this. the jackson has usa duncans in it and is neck-thru at least. probably one of the worst guitars i've owned.

roberttengs

Excellent guitar for that money

But don´t buy the new model !

The old model is way better quality
