I think I prefer this over my strandberg actually. no stainless steel goodness but I like this guitar enough that that doesn't bother me too much (gasp!). the one con is that the stock dimarzio PAF pickups are waaaaay too low output for what I'd imagine most seven string players would like. I mean, I just don't know many people that like vintage style pickups in their seven strings. I put dimarzio Ionizer 7s in it and its great now. I'm considering trying out the duncan alpha/omega 7 set in it though.
I got one of these in 2007 for my first good guitar. Mine is modded out the wazoo at this point but that doesn't change the fact that they are good. I would say that they are too expensive these days however.
had it for a couple months now and I absolutely love it. the only thing I would change would be to get rid of the dot inlays! but other than that I don't know what more I could ask for in a metal oriented baritone.
Effects Pedals 28
I rescued one of these from a heap of used gear at a guitar store awhile back. I wasn't sure what it did at the time but I'm glad I've got one. I think its a great alternative to the rotovibe pedal that Dunlop makes because you can control the speed of the vibe in real time with the sweep of the pedal.
I really love this pedal. I can't say how it compares against an actual HM2 since I've never tried one but I can say that I don't feel the need to buy one since I have this. I like this better than the TC Eyemaster, which I have tried. I think that the Swede is noticeably more defined than the eye master, which is more fuzzy in my opinion.
I needed a second noise gate for my metal pedal board and didn't have much money to spend so I got this. It's not exactly perfect but I am very content with it. If I were to compare it to other it to other gate pedals I've used I'd say that it is not quite as fast as the MXR smart gate but it is more transparent than the Boss NS2. The only issue I've had is that when I play clean with it on it will gate the notes as soon as the dip below the threshold which is normal, except that it does this even at the lowest setting. So if you are switching between clean and high gain a lot you will either want to shut it off on clean or save your money for a different gate.
Does everything I need. I prefer the sounds on the TC Vortex but that one is much more money. If I could only have one I'd choose the Vortex but if I had to buy all a new flanger this would be the one.
This is probably my favourite fuzz pedal that i've tried. It is louder and fuzzier than the Way Huge clone. The price is great too. I would have liked it too look more like the original but thats just me.
I like this pedal but I think I like the EHX one more. The EHX is half the price too. This one looks better to me though. Plus it has top mounted jacks which I like.
It does everything I need it to do. A little pricey though.
this is currently my favourite flanger pedal. it is pretty great out of the box but what really sets it apart for me is being able to download toneprints of all my favourite flanger sounds like the deluxe electric mistress without any of the issues of old pedals like that.
Don't know what I'd do without this thing! Super accurate, easy to see, long battery life, can be recalibrated, and the battery is easy to change.
Not a zakk fan (like not at all) but I really like this wah pedal. I saw Phil Demmel and Michael Amott ( I think) using this so I thought I'd give it a try. It's been my favourite wah when I need a more cutting wah tone.

I find that the output on this is backed off just a smidge too much for my liking. If you play prog or prog metal with lots of big chords you'Il probably like it but if you chug a ton like me you might not. One thing I will say is that these split really well. It sounds just like Tosin's single coil tones in my opinion. I like it other than the output issue.
I have this in the bridge of my Ibanez RG752 7 string if you are wondering.
Just like the title says, this is my favourite neck pickup for prog type stuff. I have it in my Ibanez RG752 7 string. I find it really musical with a modern flavour but without having the typical modern neck pickup tone (like a liquifire for example). I like how it doesn't have that tube-y type lead tone like an EMG 85 or something. The clean on this thing is amazing as well. I would say that this is the only neck pickup I've used that can get a passable jazz tone imho.
these are in my strat and I'm not taking them out ever. some people don't like the abrasive upper frequencies these have but I love all the extra attack. definitely one of my very favourite pickups for sure.
these picks do make your tone a little brighter by virtue of the material, but they were advertised as being extremely durable and yet I wore the point off of one in a week. No other pick has worn down that quickly for me. I also found these to be very slippery after playing for more than a few minutes but it could be that my fingers are just oily or something. in any case i'm not a fan.
one of my favourite picks for playing fast metal stuff, if not *the* favourite.
probably the flattest most one dimensional pickup i've ever heard. it sounds like an imitation of a good pu but without any of the life in it. like a shitty amp modeler or something. I know that that is a common criticism of active pickups but these are marketed as being so much more dynamic than traditional actives. that "split" mode is a joke also.
The weird thing is that i have the 6 string version of these also but they sound ten times better.

this was the muddiest most undefined sounding amp I've ever used. shitty cash grab from Zakk wylde.
didn't realise that this was supposed to sound like a Nu-Metal tone. found it to be super muddy on every setting. but maybe that's what nu metal is supposed to sound like?
Really good quality. Very pretty too although I'm not the biggest birdseye maple fan. The neck on mine is a little finicky. Might be cos it's only 17mm deep. I can live with that though.
the one I had had really shitty fretwork. it needed a refret to have all the notes actually sound and i was not willing to invest that much money in fixing a chinese ibanez so i sold it. pickups didn't sound good either. I have yet to play the new jackson model, but I can't imagine it being worse than this. the jackson has usa duncans in it and is neck-thru at least. probably one of the worst guitars i've owned.
