The Electro-Harmonix Triangle Big Muff Pi Reissue is a genuine reincarnation of the iconic Version 1 Big Muff. This legend, famously known as the Triangle Big Muff due to the unique arrangement of its Volume, Sustain, and Tone controls, is the powerhouse that started it all. This reissue manages to capture the essence of the original circa 1969 circuit, all encapsulated in a robust, pedalboard-friendly, die-cast chassis.
Electro-Harmonix founder, Mike Matthews, proudly states that this reissue nails the creamy, violin-like sustain and melodious tone that the original is famous for, all at a price that won't burn a hole in a working musician's pocket.

This pedal is WILD!
Does what it has to do, wild untamed fuzz and if you use a compressor before the signal chain you can do wonders, amazing quality/price for the deal, the design is very simple but it's easy to get dirty so you have to constant clean it and in MY case the footswtich get broken after one year of use (i'm addicted to fuzz) so my personal subjetive experience was very complicated, but this pedal gives you what it promises, it can be a 4 of 5 start after you set up right with your type of amp.
Preferred Settings + Usage:
To get the 100% of tone use a compressor, it's worthy.

So far so good!
Have only had this pedal a short while, so can't be too critical on it's build etc. but it sounds great! I've been looking for a fuzz for a while now and have tried a few different ones, none of which really did it for me. They weren't fuzzy enough, or they were the wrong kind of fuzz, I don't know, it's hard to put my finger on it. As soon as I plugged into the triangle muff I knew it was the one. Which did surprise me, as I had tried other muffs in my search and felt they were lacking something. If you are after that late 60's early 70's fuzz sounds this is definitely a pedal that you should try out. I also tried out the Russian big muff from this reissue series next to this one and it was very similar but had a slightly woolier sound, lacking a lot of the top end that the triangle had, which wasn't the sound I was going for but mght be preferrable to others.

you just wanted an extreme distortion... the big muff is often called a fuzz because it uses discrete transistors like most fuzzes, but all of the audible distortion is produced by diodes tog round not unlike a couple of DS1s slammed into eachother. Have fun with it
