Acid!
Lets play a preset and get lost into the modulation and creating basic melodies and find out it more powerfull you thought. Is a must

What a beast.
Its like Additive, Subtractive (does that cancel out?), and FM all in one. It has a neat unison engine and features separate AM and FM matrices similar to FM8. The GUI is a bit small, however.

you know, you could just buy a DX7 or SY77 and an ESQ1 or SQ8L for PEANUTS, there were so many made that there's a Yamaha FM synth and an Ensoniq hybrid for everyone. I think you would spend less than the cost of a new Novation Peak hybrid. Although the Peak is seriously amazing. but the hardware these VSTs are based on is seriously fun. Different programming, but a different timbre too.

I'd love to but I'm super broke.

Great Synth!
Never underestimate the power of Sytrus. Sytrus can be used to create some gnarly dubstep growls, or pretty much any sound you want.

An amazing FM synth
I've personally never worked with FM8, or any other frequency modulation synthesizer. Honestly, even if FM8 was objectively better, I'm too use to Sytrus to be able to do much with FM8. It's great for those harsh leads and talking basses.

In the comment section of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bsXuaIVMB4 Mick answers questions and in one of his replies to a question regarding the gears he uses, he mentioned "As for synths in general, in-the-box it's only Serum, FM8 (or Sytrus) and occasionally Harmor. Out-the-box, it's Eurorack, Polivoks, MS-20 and a few other bits and bobs."
"I started using more of FL Studio’s own stuff—Harmor, 3osc, Sytrus, and a bunch of other underrated plugins. They do pretty much exactly what you want them to do when you know them well enough. But as all experienced producers know, it’s not about the car, it’s about the driver. So processing stuff, treatment and flair is often what gives an artist an edgy sound."
