Description

The JHS Legends of Fuzz Series Berkeley is a modern-day tribute to the legendary Seamoon Fresh Fuzz of the 70s. This pedal takes you on a journey back in time with its wild, wooly tone that is uncannily reminiscent of the original. Designed after the rarest version of the Fresh Fuzz, the single op-amp 741, the Berkeley offers a range of grit tones. From a subtle crunch to a roaring wall-of-sound fuzz, this pedal has you covered.

The Berkeley keeps things simple with a straight-forward, two-knob setup, making it easy to dial in your desired sound. However, don't let its simplicity fool you. The side-mounted Mode switch provides extended tonal flexibility, letting you shape your sound to your heart's content. The pedal is housed in a vintage-style slanted metal enclosure, true to the JHS Legends of Fuzz tradition.

Key Features:

  • Modern recreation of the legendary Seamoon Fresh Fuzz 741, favored by iconic guitarists such as Eric Johnson and Tom Scholz of Boston
  • Wide range of fuzz tones, from light grit to heavy wall-of-sound fuzz
  • Simple two-knob setup for easy operation
  • Side-mounted Mode switch for enhanced tonal versatility
  • Classic JHS Legends of Fuzz sloped metal enclosure for a vintage look and feel
  • True bypass for pure signal path when the pedal is off
  • Controls for gain and bite to shape your sound
  • 9V DC power supply, making it easy to integrate into your pedalboard
  • Durable metal housing to withstand the rigors of touring and gigging.

Reviews

Critic Reviews

JHS pays tribute to three foundational fuzz pedals with new Mary-K, Berkeley and Plugin stompboxes | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The JHS Legends of Fuzz Series Berkeley pedal is a commendable homage to the classic Seamoon Fresh Fuzz, with its straightforward controls and modern enhancements. The addition of a brightening capacitor switch is particularly noteworthy, offering versatility in tone that many fuzz enthusiasts will appreciate. However, purists might find the simplicity a bit limiting. While it excels in delivering rich, vintage fuzz textures, it may not satisfy players looking for advanced features or extensive tonal options. Overall, the Berkeley is a solid choice for those seeking a touch of nostalgia with a modern twist.
