Critic Reviews

Is the new R-17 Dark Flame from Joyo an affordable Djent pedal? - gearnews.com

gearnews.com

The Joyo R-17 Dark Flame offers a promising entry into high-gain territory for budget-conscious musicians, featuring a straightforward control layout and a three-band EQ. While it excels in producing djent-friendly tones, the lack of detailed information on its voicing options leaves some questions unanswered. Additionally, it may introduce unwanted noise at higher gain settings, suggesting the need for a noise gate. Overall, it's a solid choice for those seeking aggressive sound without breaking the bank, but potential buyers should be aware of its limitations.

Favorite lower-cost modern distortion pedal.

This, boosted and running into a clean channel, competes even with Soldanos and 5150s using 8 string guitars. Good stuff and looks cool as hell.
