Critic Reviews

Korg Volca Nubass

soundonsound.com

The Korg Volca Nubass is a delightful foray into the world of acid basslines, boasting a unique blend of vintage charm and modern features. Its standout attributes include a vacuum tube, sub-oscillator, and an intuitive sequencer that makes programming a breeze. However, while it captures the essence of the iconic TB-303 sound, it lacks distinct tonal differences between its square and sawtooth waveforms, which might disappoint purists. Additionally, the MIDI functionality misses the mark by not allowing accent triggering. Despite these shortcomings, the Nubass delivers satisfying acid sounds and enjoyable usability, making it a worthy addition for both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts alike.

Korg Volca Nubass review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Korg Volca Nubass brings an interesting twist to the Volca lineup with its Nutube technology, flaunting a great-sounding filter and decent acid basslines. However, its supposed tube-driven benefits feel minimal, and compared to the Volca Bass, it sacrifices some sonic versatility with fewer oscillators. While it excels at creating classic 303 impressions, those seeking more grit or complexity may find it lacking. Ultimately, the Nubass is fun and affordable, but it may leave some musicians wanting more from its unique features.

Korg Volca Nubass Review

musictech.com

Korg's Volca Nubass delivers a compelling take on acid synthesis, boasting rich tube warmth and a user-friendly interface that makes crafting sequences a breeze. While it excels in producing deep, growling basslines, it falls short with a single sound option and a lackluster onboard speaker that can’t fully capture its tonal subtleties. This one-trick pony might not be essential for everyone, especially those already owning the original Volca Bass, but it shines as an affordable and fun tool for acid enthusiasts. If you're after that classic sound with a modern twist, the Nubass is certainly worth a spin, but don't expect versatility beyond its signature growl.

Korg Volca Nubass Review

audiotechnology.com

Korg's Volca Nubass stands out with its innovative use of vacuum tube technology, delivering a warm, gritty sound reminiscent of the classic TB-303. Its compact design, impressive sequencer capabilities, and MIDI functionality make it a versatile addition to any setup. However, the controls could use an extra push for more aggressive sound shaping. Overall, the Nubass is a powerful synth that balances nostalgia with modern features, perfect for those looking to explore bass-heavy electronic sounds.

Korg Volca Nubass reviewed by Markkus Rovito - Synth and Software

synthandsoftware.com

The Korg Volca Nubass delivers a thrilling twist on the iconic TB-303 with its innovative use of vacuum tubes and robust sequencing capabilities. Its analog warmth, rich modulation options, and portability make it an enticing addition for acid house enthusiasts. However, the workflow can feel cramped due to small controls and the reliance on the Function button, which may frustrate some users. Limited pattern storage also restricts creative possibilities. Overall, the Nubass shines with its unique sound and features, just be prepared for a learning curve.

Nice 303 Clone

Its a very funny 303 Clone with 2 Tubes one as Iscillator and the other for Saturation. The Ladder Filter sounds good but is not self resonating. The Sequencer is so much easier to use as the 303 original version used in the td-3 clones and the original 303, without loosing the special sound this sequencer offers to create.
