Line 6 POD is on the back cover photo of Gary Moore's 2001 album 'Back To The Blues'.
In the April 2001 edition of 'Guitarist' magazine, Gary Moore said (regarding the song 'Picture of the Moon') "I used the arpeggios of course and they were put through the Pod - it's great for writing with, you can come up with some ideas quickly."
In this Sound On Sound interview, Gavin Harrison explains about his "Line 6 POD guitar preamp.": "They're so bloody cheap! I haven't got an amp stack and I wouldn't know what would be good settings, so the POD presets are a good starting point for me," he explains. "If it was going to end up being something pretty serious I would get a guitarist round to play it."
This headphone amplifier was sold on Gilby Clarke’s official Reverb.com shop. The listing’s description stated; “ This Line 6 Pod is owned by Gilby Clarke. Used on many recordings in Gilby's studio. There is a good amount of wear from normal use over the years. Overall, works as intended. Power supply included. All items in The Official Gilby Clarke Reverb Shop ship fully insured with delivery confirmation and a signed and embossed Certificate Of Authenticity.”
This is embarrassing: With the very first [Line 6] POD. We went to a studio with the drums and bass and I added the guitar parts later. The clean guitars were on the Fender Twin. That's not portable. It's not like you have more than 16 tracks to work with before it starts choking. This is all to the credit of Samplitude.
In this picture from a live performance in 2004, Joe Hawley can be seen using what appears to be the original Line 6 POD. Compared to the POD 2.0, this is much thicker, proving that he is using the original POD.
Line 6 PODAccording to his official website, Line 6 POD (pictured in red) is one of his effects.
Used for or after Deviant, according to the following sources.
Guitarist, November 2000
I think the POD is one of the most important new pieces of guitar equipment in decades. It sounds amazing. I use it to demo songs on the road or in the studio, it makes recording on the road so easy. When I recorded the demos for Deviant, I had to to have a separate live room with the Marshalls cranked up. From now on I'll just use the POD and not have to make a load of noise and take up an entire room. I have no problem with bands who want to do things totally analogue or guitarists who want to record normally, it's just not my thing.
Guitar, 2000, "Pitchshifter - Shifting the Pitch"
"It's all so pretentious," he muses. "I use these sort of strings and this sort of wood and I get my sound from these picks. I really hate all that. Just give me a Pod unit, give me an Ibanez and I'm all right."
NATIVE INSTRUMENTS GUITAR RIG 2
"The POD was a bit of a milestone in guitar technology but I think Guitar Rig takes it a step further. I've turned up to session jobs with just my laptop with Guitar Rig on, to the horror of the producer! But one they get over the fact that I'm using a laptop rather than four Marshall stacks, they're normally raving about it. I love the effects you can get - really techno-sounding tones that you'd never think came from a guitar."
