Description

The L.R. Baggs AEG-1 Acoustic-electric Guitar is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. At its heart lies a torrefied Sitka spruce top, which has undergone a unique heat treatment to achieve a vintage-style warmth and resonance akin to a well-loved, aged guitar. This top is supported by scalloped X-bracing for enhanced sound projection and responsiveness, while the solid rosewood back and poplar composite sides contribute to its rich, balanced tone.

Designed with performance in mind, the AEG-1 features a slim, comfortable body with a deep cutaway, allowing for easy access to all 20 frets on the Indian rosewood fingerboard. The neck, crafted from African mahogany, offers a smooth and fast-playing experience with its Performance profile, making it ideal for both intricate fingerpicking and robust strumming.

But the true magic of the AEG-1 lies in its HiFi Duet electronics system. This cutting-edge system combines a HiFi bridge plate pickup and a Silo microphone to deliver studio-quality amplified sound that captures every nuance of the guitar's natural tone. With controls for volume, mix, tone, and phase, plus a mic trim adjust and battery level gauge, you have full command over your sound, whether on stage or in the studio.

With its elegant design and exceptional playability, the LR Baggs AEG-1 is a standout in the acoustic-electric guitar realm. The torrefied Sitka spruce top and innovative HiFi Duet pickup/mic system deliver a rich, resonant tone that excels in both live and studio settings. LR Baggs AEG-1 review – the new best-sounding electro-acoustic?

guitar.com

The LR Baggs AEG-1 stands out as a game-changer for plugged-in acoustic performances, delivering studio-quality sound without feedback. Its ergonomic design makes it a joy to play, and its innovative features are impressive for live settings. However, its aesthetics may not appeal to traditionalists, and its unplugged sound lacks excitement. While it excels as a stage instrument, it may not replace a classic acoustic for home use. At $1,600, it promises a remarkable experience for gigging musicians willing to embrace its unique qualities.

L.R. Baggs AEG-1 - Peghead Nation

pegheadnation.com

L.R. Baggs' AEG-1 Acoustic-electric guitar is a compelling blend of innovative design and rich acoustic tone, thanks to its unique HiFi Duet pickup system. Its thin-body construction is surprisingly resonant, offering a fuller sound than most thin-body guitars. However, the guitar's quietness may not suit all performance settings, and the reliance on a battery-powered system could be a drawback for some. Priced at $1,599, it stands as an excellent value, particularly when considering the cost of the aftermarket HiFi Duet system. While it may not replace a high-end acoustic, the AEG-1 excels in amplified environments and is a noteworthy contender for serious players.
