In this "Rig Rundown" with Premier Guitar, Shawn Hammond talks with Steve about his gear setup. When asked about his Motor City pickups Steve says "They just sound good, I don’t know there's some mojo going on with them. But, I think it's the same thing - each guitar I found works better with a specific pickup. And sometimes you have hunt and peck for the right pickup for that guitar and Bare Knuckles have been such a good company with me".

In the accompanying article Shawn writes "His main recording axe for the last few years has been this goldtop Les Paul, which has the same aluminum wraparound bridge and Motor City PAF-style pickups".
