Great sound, poor build quality
It's a plastic cheap thing, it has no business sounding so good. Adds a fantastic, dynamic, musical punch to your rig. Similar to the DOD FX10, but with a touch of grit when you drive it hard.
The footswitch on mine is broken (always on) and the replacement parts are hard to find, but in the right situations, it's a great addition to your signal chain.

Sleeper with great Tone control
You probably never heard of it... Plastic fantastic from the 80ies, but I very much like the slight coloration it got. Still on my pedalboard, but actually only for the great Tone Button. It is SO DAMN musical. Always just adds to my sound. The button sucks, so don't even try that on stage, or anywhere for that matter :) Just leave on or control remotely.
Artist usage
Add artist
It was speculated that Dave used a boss FA-1 FET preamp, which may be true for later years, but as shown by the document he used an MXR m162 preamp, as the FA-1 had not been released yet. The document seems vague, but it's important to note that the m162 simply was sold as the "MXR preamp". I've tried this pedal with the rest of the gear listen including the 50 watt lead Marshalls and it sounds spot on. It's the secret ingredient to his tone.
