Quick Hit: MXR Booster Mini Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The MXR Booster Mini impresses with its compact design and dual boost circuits, featuring both the Micro Amp and Echoplex Preamp. It offers a wide range of rich drive tones and a useful tone control, making it a versatile tool for guitarists seeking to enhance their sound. However, the internal placement of the trim pot for adjusting the Echoplex Preamp’s gain adds inconvenience during on-the-fly tweaks. Despite this minor drawback, the pedal shines in delivering both compressed drive and hot lead tones, making it a valuable addition to any pedalboard.

Review: MXR Booster Mini | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The MXR Booster Mini packs a punch in a small package, combining the MXR Micro Amp's boost with the Echoplex Preamp's gritty edge. With up to +25dB of boost and a high-cut tone control, it offers impressive versatility. The internal preamp trimpot enhances gain, making it ideal for fattening single-coil and driving humbuckers. While boost pedals can feel redundant, this one surprises with its powerful output and musical tone control. Perfect for soloists looking for warm sustain and saturated overdrive, it’s hard to believe such firepower is housed in a mini pedal.

micro amp... EP preamp?

Took a little time to understand what this little guy was trying to be. Noodled with the internal trim pot and found that having the EP section just barely engaged provided just enough thickness without over fattening up the tone. Great little mojo adder for that Jimmy Page live sound. Plug in your Les Paul and stack with a Marvel Drive and you'll get How The West Was Won.

So I got a MXR Boost right here... which we just put back on the board. It's really great if you just need that little extra leap to get you where you're going. Basically a clean boost, it just boosts the signal entirely.
