Maschine Mikro MK2 Review

midilifestyle.com

The Maschine Mikro MK2 by Native Instruments is a compact powerhouse, offering an affordable entry into music production with a sleek design and robust software package. Praised for its user-friendly setup and efficient workflow, it excels in sample slicing and step-sequencing. The inclusion of the full version of Massive synth is a standout, providing immense value. While the single rotary knob and non-replaceable faceplate are limiting, the overall build quality and vibrant RGB pads make it a compelling choice for beginners and budget-conscious producers. Despite some feature sacrifices, the Mikro MK2 is a versatile tool that doesn't compromise on creativity.

By far the best hybrid drum an synth unit ive ever used

Iam chuffed that I purchased this duo last year the drum sequencer is second to none comprehensive and super easy to use. The drum samples on this unit sound dynamic and can be edited to the users tastes it comes with a multiple effects suite where four effects can be applied to a single drum sample offers the programmer the ability to create any drum sound imaginable. Yes this maschine comes with over 8 GB off content and colours can be applied to the drum pads for easy recognition of what instrument is being triggered. Also the chord and arp function can control external vsts so opening up a wealth off possibilities. In my opinion maschine make the best hybrid groove station on the market today.

Great hardware and software

With a bit more polish (mainly to make the keyboard and mouse work better rather than assuming you'll do everything via the hardware buttons) this could be my DAW of choice. The step sequencer is really great. As for the hardware the pads are velocity sensitive and have a nice feel, unlike the clicky on/off pads on a launchpad. You get the Massive synth vst with this deal too and a great set of samples.

Mashine Mikro MrkII

The Mikro is controls everything I need and use inside Traktor Pro without needing to look at the computer or use a keyboard. It is fully mapped using a custom midi mapping that has taken 2 years to develop and is constantly being changed as my live shows needs shift. It also has a group/page bank that controls 3 more loops inside mainstage, and I can also trigger video visual clips in a third group/page bank.

Great hybrid drum machine/sampler

Before this I was using my own samples in drum racks in Ableton and before that an Elektron Machinedrum (which I miss). The amount of sounds you can get out of this is incredible. The samples included with the software are amazing for the price. The samples alone are worth the cost. Adding your own samples is incredibly easy and the hardware is easy to use, intuitive and the pads are better than any other I have used.

Owning the beat!

It is a great beat machine to produce with, with a size that gives you the freedom to take it anywhere with you and keep making amazing music. Easy and fun to use, and it comes with a great sound library to crea your own style! It is actually becoming part of my live set!

kliksynk

Great for quick groove sequencing

I have the Maschine Mikro MKII for about 2 years at the time I write this and it is a great tool for quick groove sequencing and als a great live performance tool to create beats on the fly. As a VST in Ableton you get the best of both worlds.

jacque_dewalt

Super portable, very impressed!

I didn't know anything about NI until I heard about the maschine. I decided to try out the smaller version before I became to invested. I fell in love with the hardware and the software and plan to upgrade to the studio version in the future! This thing makes my work flow so much quicker and individual processes easier. Great integration of soft/hardware!

Good add-on controller for Serato/Traktor

A lot of button features make this a great add-on controller to unlock the full potential of your DJ Software. As for production with Maschine software, it is a good portable setup and gives you the essentials for controlling Maschine.

itsarapjt

DOPE INTEGRATION!

I use it as drum pads to play instruments obviously. but it also acts as a control surface for logic pro x

From feedingears.com: "Daly tells me that he used to write in natural landscapes, like on the banks of their native Lake Champlain. 'But now,' he says, 'a lot of it is in peace and quiet at my house. I went from only writing songs on guitar to sometimes making beats first or right on a device that plugs into the computer. It’s like a drum-pad but you can play melodic stuff on it too…it’s called a Machine Micro.' This device appears in Madaila’s 2016 Tiny Desk Concert submission, a solid intro video for any first-time listeners."
