Description
Introducing the Novation Launchpad Pro, your ultimate grid instrument for Ableton Live. This high-performance tool integrates effortlessly with Ableton, enabling you to gain hands-on control of your music with four intuitive modes: Session, Note, Device, and User. There's no need for complex setup procedures, just plug in and immerse yourself in your music.
From software to external hardware, the Launchpad Pro allows you to control it all. You can plug it directly into Logic Pro and play it like a keyboard or connect the MIDI ports to your Bass Station II and start creating riffs on your grid.
The 8x8 grid of RGB pads light up to match the color of your clips in Ableton, giving you the freedom to focus on triggering and combining your loops and ideas. With the Scale Mode, the pads will automatically assign themselves to the notes of one of 32 keys and modes, ensuring you never play out of key.
Featuring velocity and pressure-sensitive pads, the Launchpad Pro gives you the power to create dynamic beats and drum performances with ease. And if you're in Standalone Mode, you can use the grid to play any of your software and external hardware.

Comparisons
-
Some users find the Akai APC64 appealing due to its additional features, such as note mute in sequence mode and touch strips for CC, despite its higher price.
Source -
Some users opt for a Launch Control XL to pair with the Launchpad Pro for expanded rotary control, preferring it over Akai's touch strips.
Source -
LPP Mk3 is limited to 8 bar loops, while Push offers up to 32 bars, which might be limiting for some users.
Source -
The Launchpad Pro Mk3 lacks the ability to duplicate clips to other tracks, a feature available in Push.
Source
User experience
-
Despite limited sequencer features, the Launchpad Pro is favored for daily use by those integrating it with Ableton, over devices like Circuit Tracks.
Source -
Owners note that the pads' responsiveness is a highlight, though the limited track count and lack of automation sequencing have led some to switch to other devices like the MPC Live 2.
Source -
Owners note that the LPP Mk3’s portability makes it ideal for users who need a compact solution for live setups or jamming.
Source
Value and pricing
-
A used Launchpad Pro can be found for around 170 euros, a more budget-friendly option compared to alternative controllers like Push 2.

Source -
There's a demand for more than four tracks on the sequencer, with some users suggesting that adding up to eight would significantly enhance its utility.
Source -
Users wish for isolated velocity/probability settings per individual drum sound, as the current setup applies changes to all drum notes collectively.
Source -
LPP sequencer starts playing with clips, which can be annoying for those seeking independent sequencing.
Source
Other
-
The Launchpad's sequencer is praised for its intuitiveness, particularly in comparison to other Novation products like Circuit Tracks/Rhythm, which offer similar ease of use.

eye candy for the studio
i basically never use this, but whenever someone comes over, or looks at a photo, this is almost always the first thing they gravitate towards, so if there's kids, or you're takign a lot of pictures, this is solid for that. other then that? maybe some finger drumming to get a beat down without feeling too midi. the analog outs are great in a pinch though

Best for the money if you don't want a Push
I purchased this because I had not heard about the PUSH2 beforehand. The Launchpad Pro's advantage is its ability to be open. Where Push has an intense integration with Ableton Live, Launchpad Pro allows you to do so much more with other possible options. With the Launchpad Pro you can control external hardware, you are also able to custom program the mappings to fit your needs, where you don't have this kind of flexibility with Push2.
While you have this amount of control, the built in Live capability out of the box works flawlessly without having to do much other than selecting the hardware device within Ableton. You can be up and running with Launchpad Pro within seconds of starting.
What's even greater about this device is the hardware itself. A lot of thought went into building this for durability. The pads are stiff while allowing pressure and velocity sensitivity not found in the original Launchpads.

It's just been a blast
I can't lie. I fucking love this product. I've had, and still am, having a lot of fun messing around and making music with it. Besides that, there's so many softwares that you can use it on. I've used it on Logic Pro X, FL, Ableton, and even on the app they have on mobile. I would suggest getting whatever the newest version of this is at time you're reading this; GET IT.

Nice Pad Controller!
This controller has excellent compatibility with Ableton, but lacks features in FL Studio (and ease of use). Optimisation for other DAWs would be useful in a future product.

Love it!!!
The Launchpad Pro is one of my favourite pieces of gear ever. The build quality is outstanding, and the pads feel AMAZING to press! Such a mesmerizing device! Brilliant!
