Critic Reviews

REVIEW: Maschine Mikro MK3 — a DJ's perspective – DJWORX

djworx.com

The Maschine Mikro MK3 offers a solid blend of portability and functionality, making it an appealing choice for DJs and casual producers. Its pads are responsive and user-friendly, while the updated design is sleek. However, the plastic casing is prone to scratches, and the lack of MIDI mapping and master tempo controls hinders its live performance capabilities. While it’s a great entry-level option at a competitive price, potential buyers should weigh its limitations against their specific needs. Overall, it’s a decent piece of gear, but not without some significant drawbacks.

NI Maschine Mikro Mk3 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

While the Native Instruments Maschine Mikro MK3 is praised for its affordability and sleek design, it lacks the expressiveness and extensive control features found in its larger counterpart, the Maschine. The minimalist screen may limit some navigational ease, pushing users back to their computer for deeper functionality. However, the revamped pads and Smart Strip enhance performance capabilities, making it a solid choice for those focused on beat-making. The smaller Factory Library is a downside, but the quality of sounds remains high. Overall, it's a fun, fast tool for sketching beats, albeit with notable limitations.

Cool but had issues

The look of the controller is very cool and inspiring. I really wanted to like it but I had issues with inconsistent sensitivity between pads and an error code that would brick the device unless restarted multiple times.

It seems like Native Instruments is a small international company making luxury products, operating at their limit. Because of this, their quality control, compatibility, customer service, and ability to improve products is lacking compared to what I expect from companies these days.

They make cool stuff that is very enticing but if anything goes wrong, and there’s a higher likelihood it might, they’re an inconvenience to deal with.

I went with a Novation Launchpad X instead and am much happier with it and the company.

Sounds great

Sounds great a bit CPU hungry though. A few changes on the onscreen layout compared to the Mikro MK2, great build quality.
