Description

The Echoflanger by PastFx.

Is a recreation of the original vintage EHX Echoflanger, in a super small pedal board friendly package.
This Multi all Analog Effect can produce up to 5 effects, slap back delay/double tracking, chorus, vibrato, flanger, and filter matrix.

Specs:

• True Bypass
• 18v DC operation 2.1mm Boss style negative tip jack, does not use potentially noisy surge pump / voltage inverter IC's sometimes used in 18v pedal circuits.
• Uses 2 x vintage Panasonic BBD's.
• Blend control instead of a switch.
• When in Chorus mode, a Vibrato effect can be achieved by turning the Blend control fully counter clockwise.
• LED Mode indicator - LFO flashing for chorus/flanger, static for Slapback and Matrix settings
• New Input filter switch
• New internal threshold trimpot.
• The threshold control introduces a rudimentary gating control at low levels which can help prevent noise the circuit is prone to generate particularly during silent passages.
• This can be adjusted to taste, however it is calibrated by default in an "Off" setting (FCW).
• The pedals noise and quirks are at their most noticeable when in flange mode with width rate and feedback at maximum settings.
• The PastFx Echoflanger is not based on the EHX Poly Chorus reissues, as the original versions were always mono + dry output.(Due to space restrictions we have omitted the DRY out.)
• The Poly Chorus reissues used a psuedo stereo reversed phase output.
• Our circuit is not a recreation of a DIY pcb project.
• We are in possession of original vintage units including Echoflanger, Poly Flange & Poly Chorus.
• These units do vary due to age, however they have been a key reference in the PastFx's design.

*Please note: Our Echoflanger is based on the original 1970's EHX Echoflanger circuit.
This effect was also sold as the Poly Flange & Poly Chorus.
The Poly Chorus was reissued twice starting in the 1990's with a "stereo" big box version then several years later a smaller version.
These versions use a different circuit compared to the vintage units.
We have incorporated a couple of adjustable internal mods to improve on the noise issues found in the original and its adaption to the Panasonic BBDs.
Incorporates an internal volume trim pot to rectify the famous volume drop found on many a EHX vintage pedal.
1590B enclosure size (the smallest recreation of the original circuit that we know of)
Current draw 80 mA. Only high quality audio style power supplies to be used. (eg Cioks dc7 and equivilent) This is the nature of the beast of this circuit.
Included some adjustable mods to mitigate these behaviours. One of the unusual aspects of the Echoflanger is that it has access to a feedback control while in Chorus mode. Generally speaking most chorus pedals do not incorporate a feedback control. Kurt Cobain famously made use of feedback in chorus mode in Nirvana's In Utero song "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter" This is why the Echoflanger has been so sought after for those wishing to replicate these sounds
