Great Bones to Create a Solid PJ Bass

The Squier Standard Precision Bass Special (PJ), particularly the early production years, are very much on par with a MIM. They are available for a lower price than a true Fender product. Do upgrades including pickups, hi-mass bridge, tuning machines, and a new circuit and you can have a very good bass for under $600.

I modified this 3 tone sunburst p bass with a lace alumitone p bass middle pickup, seymour duncan quarter pound j bass bridge pickup, EB mud bucker sidewinder neck pickup, and a 6 way switch (6th position is all at once).

This bass nails the classic Duff McKagan tone! The P/J pickup combo is very rare in basses nowadays... These basses are essentially copies of the old 80's Fender Jazz Specials from Japan, minus the pickguard and pickup selector.

I've had this bass for as long as Obama's been in office. Simple, yet effective. I sanded the outer finish and paint off.

Bang for the buck

A solid player with a nice tone for a good price. Best of both worlds, it's basicly a Precision Bass with an added Jazz Bass neck pickup and a Jazz neck.
