    Source

    Source
  • The Deluge's portable design includes a built-in battery, microphone, and speaker, allowing for independent usage without additional accessories.

  • The Deluge allows for Euclidean sequencing and probabilities, offering creative options for rhythm and pattern creation that are not typically available on more conventional grooveboxes.

    Source
  • The Deluge's piano roll excels at displaying notes and sequencing drums, offering more clarity than the Elektron sequencer for melodic compositions.

    Source
  • The Deluge's lack of velocity sensitivity is noted, but it can be compensated for by using an external controller with pressure-sensitive pads for dynamic expression.

    Source
  • Users appreciate the Deluge's ability to stream from an SD card, allowing for vast sample libraries without storage concerns, unlike the Digitakt's 1GB limitation.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Owners note that the Deluge maintains its value, often selling used for the same price as new, attributed to its open-source updates and community support.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners highlight the Deluge's fast power-up time, noted as almost instant, which is quicker compared to devices like the Circuit and Liven.

    Source
  • The Deluge's metronome is criticized for being too loud and lacking adjustability, which may affect the recording and practice experience.

    Source
  • Some users find the Deluge less intuitive for sampling and recording, preferring devices like the MPC for these tasks due to simpler workflows.

    Source
  • Owners find that while the Deluge's sequencer is powerful, it can encounter CPU limitations, particularly when using complex arrangements with multiple samples and effects.

    Source
  • Sampling into a kit row on the Deluge is praised for its simplicity: hold the audition pad, press record, and sample.

    Source
  • Owners find the Deluge's grid-based song arrangement intuitive and comprehensive, promoting full song development over loop fixation often experienced with the Digitakt.

    Source

Build quality

  • The Deluge is described as highly repairable, with purchasable parts like batteries and knobs directly available from Synthstrom for easy user maintenance.

    Source

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Deluge is favored for its spontaneity in music production, enabling quick improvisations with minimal menu navigation, akin to using Ableton as an instrument.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

In deep with the Synthstrom Deluge, the boutique do-everything synth sampler sequencer - CDM Create Digital Music

cdm.link

The Synthstrom Deluge impresses as a versatile all-in-one music production powerhouse, perfect for those seeking an escape from computer-based workflows. It excels with its expansive feature set, offering everything from synths to sequencing and sampling, all within a compact, portable design. The innovative grid system offers creative freedom, though its abstract workflow might have a learning curve for some. The Deluge's synths deliver rich character, although the envelopes could use more snap. Its effects, while plentiful, risk sounding over-processed if overused. Overall, the Deluge is a remarkable tool for musicians looking to craft entire productions on one device.

Synthstrom Audible - Deluge - Waveform Magazine

waveformmagazine.com

The Synthstrom Deluge is a hidden gem, packing immense versatility as a groovebox, synth, and more, into a portable design. Its intuitive grid interface and extensive feature set, including polyphonic synthesis and a robust sequencer, make it a formidable tool for both studio and live settings. While its lack of pad velocity and basic LED screen may deter some, these are minor drawbacks compared to its vast capabilities and active community. An impressive piece of gear for creators seeking depth and flexibility.

The nerve center of any set up

If you're looking to go DAW-less this is the perfect piece of gear to control your entire set up. It's ostensibly a powerful sequencer, but shines as a controller for all your external hardware. Its also a sampler which I havent even touched yet. The menu diving is kind of annoying, but it's fairly intuitive.

Great support from the mfg, they just upgraded the display and you can send your unit in to be upgraded for a nominal fee.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Love the scroll and zoom feature. Super handy for making glitchy beats quickly.

I'll have this sometime around April

They literally just started making these by hand from scratch for everyone that pre ordered one. Takes about 4 months and then a couple weeks for delivery. This is like a super charged version of the circuits it does A LOT more than circuit does but it's also a bit more complicated to operate. With those 4 units synced up together there will be endless sequencing possibilities

You cannot buy Deluge on eBay. It's only available directly from the manufacturers. I don't know how to make that bum "buy it on eBay" link go away sorry.
