Description

Introducing the Genelec 8341A, a remarkable point-source monitor that is a perfect fit for mid-sized control rooms. This 3-way studio monitor is part of Genelec's "The Ones" series and is designed for fatigue-free listening at near- to midfield distances. It leverages the power of Genelec's Acoustically Concealed Woofer (ACW) technology to deliver an impressively linear payload over a wide bandwidth. The result? Phenomenal imaging and clarity that you'll surely appreciate.

The Genelec 8341A is packed with Smart Active Monitor (SAM) technology that optimizes level, timing, and equalization of room response anomalies. This leads to an amazingly tight, accurate sound with enormous dynamic range and unprecedented frequency response, regardless of where you choose to work.

The dual woofers in this monitor employ ACW to extend their coaxial acoustical radiation concept to bass frequencies. Hidden inside the monitor's cabinet, these woofers use the entire front baffle as a giant Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) to control directivity over a very wide bandwidth, creating a massive "sweet spot."

The monitor's Smart Active Monitor (SAM) technology provides remarkably accurate monitoring by automatically calibrating its level, timing, and equalization to your room. This ensures that you hear the original nuances of your source accurately, without color or distortion.

Key Features:

  • Smart Active Monitor (SAM) provides remarkably accurate monitoring
  • Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) delivers focused near- and midfield sound
  • Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) driver provides superior imaging
  • Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) for linear on- and off-axis response
  • Dual Acoustically Concealed Woofers (ACW) extend directivity control to bass frequencies
  • Optimum performance in both horizontal and vertical position

Genelec: 8341A SAM Monitors & GLM User Kit | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

Genelec's 8341A monitors are a sonic revelation, offering unmatched clarity and detail that transforms mixing sessions into immersive experiences. Their innovative design includes a unique driver arrangement and advanced calibration options via the GLM User Kit, making them adaptable to any studio environment. While the hefty price tag may deter some, the investment is justified by the monitors' incredible performance and headroom. However, the steep cost and potential learning curve for the GLM system might not suit every musician. Overall, these monitors set a new standard in studio sound, making them a must-try for serious audio professionals.

Review: Genelec's 8341A is a nearly perfect speaker (for $6K)

thenextweb.com

Genelec's 8341A speakers are lauded for their impressive sound quality and robust build, earning praise as near-perfect monitors that deliver a neutral tonal response and exceptional imaging. Their unique coaxial design allows for remarkable performance, whether in a studio or living room setting. However, at approximately $6,000, the price tag might deter casual listeners, and while they excel in clarity, some may find the soundstage a bit narrower than preferred. Additionally, although they perform admirably without a subwoofer, the low-end extension could benefit from one for deeper bass. Overall, these speakers are a top-tier choice for professionals and serious audiophiles alike.
