Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Digital Power Supply.

Features and functionality

  • The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Digital has two 9V/12V combo outputs; they can't be used simultaneously, limiting it to four 9V outputs when not switching voltages.

    Source
  • The Pedal Power 3 Plus utilizes a hybrid DC transformer design with linear regulation and computer-optimized filtering, distinguishing it from fully switch-mode supplies.

    Source
  • The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ only provides up to 250 mA on its high-current outputs, insufficient for the Strymon Iridium's 300-500 mA requirement.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Digital is compared to the Truetone CS6 and CS12 for users needing high-amperage digital pedal support.

    Source
  • The Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3 Plus offers 12 9V outputs, whereas the TrueTone CS-12 provides only 9, but includes two 18V and a 9V AC output.

    Source
  • Unlike the Voodoo Lab, the TrueTone CS-12 has been described as more efficient in handling heat output, suggesting it may be less prone to overheating.

    Source
  • The Strymon Zuma offers 23 high-current isolated outputs at 500 mA each, a significant upgrade for users with multiple digital pedals compared to the Voodoo Lab PP2+.

    Source

User experience

  • Users report Voodoo Lab's customer service is reliable, handling issues even years post-purchase, which may justify higher costs.

    Source
  • Some users experienced noise issues with the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3 Plus, even when isolated on the board, leading to returns in favor of the TrueTone CS12.

    Source
  • Multiple users report no noise issues with the Pedal Power 3 Plus, even when powering demanding digital pedals like the Strymon Iridium.

    Source
  • Some owners recommend pairing power supplies with a Furman PST-8 power strip to maintain a quiet signal chain, particularly in electrically noisy venues.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Owners suggest considering a used Voodoo Lab PP2+ for versatility, as it’s perceived to offer more options than the smaller Pedal Power Digital.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • A basic 1Spot adapter and daisy chain can power 4-6 pedals with minimal noise, providing an alternative for simpler setups.

    Source
  • CIOKS DC7 is praised for its light weight and flexible voltage switching, making it ideal for compact setups needing varied power requirements.

    Source

Build quality

  • TrueTone's CS-12 includes linear voltage regulators with substantial heat sinks, indicating a robust design to manage heat dissipation effectively.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Current-doubling cables can be used to combine two outputs for sufficient amperage, but voltage must remain at 9V to avoid damaging pedals like the Iridium.

CLEAN ...

... voltage regulated, high current 'n' ISOLATED! What's not to like, and there's an expansion module to run four other low current devices as well. It uses an output from the main box, so it yield a total of 7 isolated, voltage regulated outputs. It didn't fit under the board however ... :-(

Sweet man

Would love some more 9v outputs, but hey its nice clean power.
