Yamaha Pacifica SC Professional and Standard Plus review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Guitar World is practically over the moon: both Pacifica SC models are praised for stellar build quality, silky fretwork, smart ergonomics and a genuinely versatile pickup set, with the Focus switch singled out as a killer feature. The Standard Plus, in particular, is called “one of the best electrics out there, at any price,” delivering near-pro feel for far less money. The knocks are minor but real: the pricier Japanese-made Professional doesn’t separate itself dramatically enough from its Indonesian sibling, making the value proposition harder to justify, and the much-hyped I.R.A. treatment is difficult to hear in practice. Still, the verdict is emphatic — fabulous tones, faultless setup, and two sensational single-cuts that Yamaha absolutely nailed.
