Description

GUITAR AMP MODELER

The ultimate guitar amp modeling device creates a perfect replication of eleven world-famous guitar amplifier sounds.

Authentic recreation of 11 world-famous guitar amp characteristics Zoom's sophisticated technology called VAMS (Variable Architecture Modeling System) has made it possible to faithfully reproduce the sound of 11 famous guitar amplifiers. Whether you record with a multi-track recorder at home or in the studio, you no longer need a guitar amplifier. Within a single compact housing, the GM-200 gives you immediate access to the dynamic, life-like sounds of 11 high-class guitar amps.

Refined effects and selectable output character The GM-200 provides vintage chorus, tremolo, tape echo, and spring reverb. These high-quality effects are extremely easy to use, being controlled by a single knob. The Output Character control enhances your sound by adding the optimum ambience and mastering effects for every environment.

OUTPUT CHARACTER LINE AUDIO (Off, Punch, Edge, Live) These character settings are optimized when using the unit with a home audio system, a portable stereo or a headphone. MTR RECORDING (Direct, Air, Wide) These character settings are optimized for line out use with a multi-track recorder or mixer. GUITAR AMP (Normal, Bright, Warm, Bottom) These character settings are optimized for direct connection to a guitar amplifier.

Input/output configuration to fit any recording environment On the input side, a gain switch makes it easy to accommodate guitars with active pickups. A MIX IN (stereo mini phone jack) lets you add external sources without effect processing to the guitar signal, for applications like playing along with your favorite CD. On the output side, a pair of RCA-type phono jacks is provided in addition to the standard phone jack (stereo). This eliminates problems when laying down a guitar track on a multi-track recorder.

There's even more... Gain and master level can used to adjust the intensity of the distortion setting, just like a guitar amplifier. A simple twist of the ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction) knob eliminates unwanted noise. And a 3-band tone control (TREBLE, MIDDLE, BASS) lets you tailor the sound just the way you want it. Battery operation allows you to use for any purpose.

American Clean Emulates the clean channel of a tube-type combo amp developed in the nineteen-sixties by a famous American manufacturer. It is characterized by a clear, bright sound with full-bodied tonal characteristics. Twin Drive Emulates the drive channel sound of the tube-type amp mentioned above. Produces a drive sound with extended top end. Suitable for a wide range of applications, from rhythm to lead guitar. Blues Tweed Emulates a small classic tube-type combo amp built in the fifties by the same company as the American Clean amp. Produces dry distortion with the harmonic "ring" produced by the cabinet. Class A Combo Emulates the class A drive tube amp that became the hallmark of the Liverpool sound in the sixties. It is characterized by a distinct midrange sound. British Crunch Emulates a British tube-type stack amplifier (known by some as the "800" series) that ruled the eighties hard rock scene. It has powerful tonal characteristics, with distortion overtones even when the gain is turned down. British Drive Emulates the full-blown drive sound of the "900" series that was the successor to the amp above, characterized by its blunt attack, exceptional presence and thick bottom sounds. Combo 335 In the late sixties, a manufacturer in San Francisco introduced a hand-built tube combo amp. This setting emulates the sound of this legendary amplifier, famous for its "bluesy" character and extra long sustain. Metal Panel The same manufacturer came out in the nineties with a tube-type stack amp, designed for intense distortion. Black Bottom Emulates a tube stack amp developed by an American amp manufacturer in the nineties with a rock guitar superstar. The sound has a gutsy low end and detailed distortion. Modern Lead Emulates a head made in America by a custom manufacturer in the eighties. Great for "slow hand" lead guitar playing. Fuzz Stack Creates a dynamic sixties style stack amp sound with massive fuzz distortion, suitable for leads and riffs. Great for people who set their guitars on fire or play them with their teeth...

Zoom GM200

soundonsound.com

Zoom's GM200 offers a budget-friendly entry into amp modeling, featuring a lightweight build and a variety of tones that impress for its price. While it excels in ease of use and provides decent amp simulations, the excessive background hiss while using overdrive effects detracts from its potential. The lack of programmability and a limited effects section further limit its appeal for serious recording. It's a solid choice for casual practice or demos, but may fall short for more critical applications. Overall, it provides good value, but with notable caveats.

Zoom: GM-200 Guitar Amp Modeler

egodeath.com

The Zoom GM-200 impresses with its ease of use and a solid array of 11 convincing amp sounds, making it a great choice for home recording and rehearsals. Build quality is decent, and features like the Variable Architecture Modeling System and noise reduction enhance its appeal. However, the limited effects may leave some users wanting more versatility. Overall, it strikes a commendable balance between sound quality and value, but those seeking a broader range of effects might need to look elsewhere.
