Critic Reviews

ART USB Phono Plus

soundonsound.com

The ART Pro Audio USB Phono Plus serves as a handy bridge between vinyl and digital, boasting a surprisingly good audio quality for its budget price. However, its lack of an analogue output for monitoring via speakers—leaving only a headphone jack—feels like a missed opportunity. While it excels in simplicity and ease of use, the limitations on sample rate and resolution may not satisfy more demanding users. For casual vinyl transfers, it’s a solid choice, but those requiring versatility might want to explore alternatives.

ART USB Phono Plus review | What Hi-Fi?

whathifi.com

ART's USB Phono Plus offers a detailed soundstage and a range of features, making it a solid entry in the phono preamp market. While it shines in timing and dynamics, its punch and rhythmic sense fall short compared to competitors like the Rega Fono Mini A2D. For those seeking versatility and decent performance at a reasonable price, it’s a compelling choice. However, audiophiles looking for a more energetic presentation may find it wanting. Overall, it balances functionality with respectable sound quality, but lacks that extra spark to elevate it above the competition.

ART: USB Phono Plus | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

The ART USB Phono Plus serves as a budget-friendly bridge between vinyl and digital, offering essential features like a low-cut switch and headphone output. Priced at just $99, it’s a solid choice for transferring records, though its software companion, Audacity, can be clunky and frustrating, especially for Mac users. While the device itself is easy to use, expect some learning curve with the software, which may lead to disappointing experiences during your vinyl digitization process. It shines in functionality but falls short in user experience, making it a decent option for casual users rather than audiophiles.

Gets the job done (and well)

My audio interface of choice for my streaming laptop. I take a digital feed from my Babyface into this guy and send it to OBS to play to the (imaginary) masses on Twitch. A very clean audio feed as a result of the absence of any AD/DA conversion.
