Daredevil Pedals Atomic Cock Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Daredevil Pedals Atomic Cock is a bold, punk-inspired wah pedal that shines with its versatility and unique character. Its "variable-fixed wah" design allows for a range of rich, textured tones that can add an aggressive edge to any setup. The blend knob is a standout feature, offering dynamic tonal control, though its position makes on-the-fly adjustments tricky. While it captures the essence of vintage wahs, some may find its vocal quality lacking. At $130, it's an excellent value for those seeking to inject attitude and variety into their sound without breaking the bank.

Daredevil Pedals Atomic Cock | Vintage Guitar® magazine

vintageguitar.com

The Daredevil Pedals Atomic Cock is a versatile fixed wah pedal that offers more tonal flexibility than traditional wahs. Its ability to blend the effect with the amp's signal and add grit via the Gain knob makes it a standout. While it doesn't match the luxury of boutique wahs, its tonal spectrum and user-friendly design make it a great tool for breaking out of tonal ruts and enhancing solos. The pedal excels with dirty amps, providing smooth, singing filtered tones, though it might not satisfy those seeking the high-end wah experience.

Perfect one-button cocked wah tone

I love the sound of a cocked wah pedal, like Mick Ronson's seminal work of the glam-rock era, but keeping that sweet spot onstage is difficult with a traditional wah. This pedal puts that perfect smooth filtering into a one-button box with super simple controls, accessible even to a luddite like me. I like that there's a Mix knob, so you can make the effect subtler or bolder (unlike a normal wah); and i like that you can use it as a transparent wah or a fuzzy/distorted one. The only other pedals of this type were strictly "cocked wah fuzz" pedals. This one let you choose how clean or distorted it is. As for the build quality, it's totally hand-wired an solid as hell.
