Channel 3....what else!

The channel that this amp is famous for is responsible for 70% of The Prophecy's distorted tones since 'Into the Light' - often blended with a more aggressive and less refined amplifier in the studio. The VH4 provides the champagne smooth saturation to Greg's Engl Savage or Laboga Mr. Hector throaty dirt when layering multiple layers or distortion or recording with dual amplifiers from a single D.I/live guitar.

So on to Th1rt3en, what did you use amp-wise? ** For the rhythms it was a mix of the Diezel VH4** and the Bogner Uberschall. It was a very good combination. I felt they complimented each other really well. And for the leads it was just the Bogner Uberschall. Those were [producer] Johnny K’s amps and those were amps that he really liked. When we looked at how those amps sounded in the mix, they definitely fit the sound the best out of all the amps we had.

Schenker: I’ve played so many amps! I started actually with Vox, then Marshall, then Boogie, into Hiwatt, then Diezel, then Engl, Soldano. Then I found this Danish guy who makes the Skrdstrup R&D [Triple Drive 50]. It’s an amazing amp. It allows such an exact attack and just enough distortion. Tonight I’ve got that, the Engl [Savage 120] and a Rivera [TBR Series rackmount stereo tube amplifier].

In the studio, we tracked rhythms with a combination of a Peavey 6505 and a** Diezel VH4**, and we put those through a Bogner cabinet. We had a Maxon OD-808 right in front of that. For leads, we used a Soldano SLO100 and an old Traynor head for a little bit of high end. For some of the cleaner stuff, we used a Matchless 35.
