Description

Unleash a world of tonal possibilities with the Hudson Electronics Broadcast AP-II, a dual preamplifier overdrive pedal crafted in collaboration with the renowned guitarist Ariel Posen. This pedal is all about versatility, featuring two distinct preamplifier circuits that each bring their own unique color to your sound palette.

The first circuit, built with a silicon transistor and transformer, delivers the rich, smooth tones that made the original Broadcast-AP a favorite among musicians. On the other hand, the second circuit swaps the transformer for a germanium transistor, offering a brighter, more assertive tone. Each circuit is equipped with its own DRIVE and LEVEL controls, allowing you to sculpt your sound with precision.

What sets the Broadcast AP-II apart is its innovative send/return loop, which lets you integrate other pedals between the two preamps or rearrange their order in your signal chain for even greater creative control. This flexibility, combined with a wide gain range, enables everything from subtle boosts to intense, fuzz-laden sonic adventures. Whether you're looking to add a touch of warmth or push your sound into uncharted territories, the Broadcast AP-II is your key to unlocking new musical dimensions.

Key Features:

  • Collaboration with Ariel Posen for unique tonal design
  • Dual preamplifier circuits: silicon with transformer and germanium without transformer
  • Independent DRIVE and LEVEL controls for each circuit
  • Innovative send/return loop for pedal integration and flexible signal routing
  • Wide gain range for diverse sound shaping
  • Power supply requirements: 9VDC to 24VDC (not included)

Hudson Electronics Broadcast AP-II review: two drive tones, endless possibilities

guitar.com

Hudson Electronics' Broadcast AP-II is a powerhouse of versatility, offering two distinct drive channels that blend the charm of silicon and germanium circuits. This pedal stands out with its ability to deliver both clean boosts and aggressive, Jack White-esque fuzz tones. The AP-II shines particularly when stacking these sounds, providing guitarists with a world of tonal possibilities. Despite its hefty price tag, the pedal's robust build and dual-channel functionality justify the investment. However, its cost might be a consideration for those outside the UK due to exchange rates. For musicians who savor dynamic drive tones and tonal experimentation, the AP-II is a top-tier dirt pedal worth the splurge.

One of my fav pedals

This is one of my favourite pedals, and never leaves my small board. The effect loop makes it sensationally flexible - especially with modulation pedals in that loop - and the tones are distinct and to die for on their own or stacked. Cannot recommend highly enough.
