  • Indonesian JEMs may require additional setup work, such as fret polishing and neck shimming, to reach desired playability standards.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

    Source

User experience

Ibanez JEM 7VWH guitar review 2002 production model

tonymckenzie.com

The Ibanez JEM 7VWH, a Japanese-made Steve Vai signature model, boasts a lightweight design, excellent rock sound, and a fast, comfortable neck. Its locking tremolo system ensures tuning stability, though string breaks can be a hassle. The guitar's gold plating remains durable over time, adding to its aesthetic appeal. While the model delivers the Vai sound well, it lacks the sustainiac feature from Vai's own guitar. The review emphasizes the Japanese version's superiority over its non-Japanese counterpart, citing potential structural issues in the latter. Despite a high price point, this guitar scores a solid 9 out of 10, making it a worthwhile investment for dedicated rock players.

My favorite axe ever

My Ibanez Jem70v ,whom I have named Minty Fresh, is the best guitar I have ever owned. Minty is a 2nd year jem and quickly became my #1 axe for every situation possible. The whammy bar never goes out of tune and the neck is a joy. I added a pick holder to the headstock like Steve does to his and having the pick holder is a no brainer especially if you drop you picks like I do.

"This is the new Jem that Ibanez just came out with. The bones of the Jem have been the same for 25 years, which makes it the longest running signature series guitar in history, and the most successful - which I'm very grateful for! We're always trying to mix it up and come up with something a little different. Usually it's the aesthetic that's different...But this is the new seafoam green and it's really great to have the opportunity to experiment with guitars. And this one I got the idea for the color when I was in a parking garage and I saw an old thunderbird and it was painted seafoam green. These people who collect these cars are very serious about the paint jobs and everything. And, gah, I wanted to eat the color. It was like a candy. So I did the research and this is what came out: seafoam green. It's very cool. This specific guitar does have a sustainer, but the production models don't. I do use a sustainer - I started using it a lot ten years ago. I've pulled back because you don't want to keep repeating yourself" explains Steve Vai about the Ibanez JEM/UV Steve Vai Signature Electric Guitar.
