Features and functionality

    Source
  • The Unicorn V2's tap tempo feature is highly appreciated, especially when synchronized with tap tempo delay pedals for cohesive modulation effects.

    Source
  • The Unicorn V2's vibrato effect is more subtle than expected, requiring a higher depth setting to become prominent, unlike more apparent vibratos like the EarthQuaker Aqueduct.

    Source

  • A hidden trimpot inside the JHS Unicorn V2 allows for adjusting the bulb’s strength, affecting the pedal's brightness and overall tone.

    Source
  • Using a coily cable can help roll off highs, as seen with Hendrix, though some prefer adjusting the tone knob for more controlled treble reduction.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The EQD Depths provides a deeper, more intense pulsation but lacks the expression pedal option found in the Unicorn V2, which some users find limiting.

    Source
  • Unlike many univibe clones with specific voltage requirements, the Unicorn V2 is straightforward and compact, taking up less pedalboard space.

    Source
  • The Fulltone Deja Vibe is noted for its accurate reproduction of the original Univibe tone, appealing to those seeking classic sounds.

    Source

User experience

  • Some owners report unpleasant clipping with clean tones, particularly when using single-coil pickups.

    Source
  • Some find the JHS Unicorn V2 shrill and trebly, particularly at higher volume settings, but using a tone knob adjustment can mitigate this.

    Source
  • Owners who have transitioned from the EarthQuaker Devices Aqueduct note a difference in vibrato definition, needing to adjust expectations when switching to the Unicorn V2.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Unicorn V2 offers a modern vibe sound, retaining clarity and working well with dirt pedals, though it may lack the crunch of classic Hendrix tones.

    Source
  • The Strymon Ultraviolet's MIDI control allows for extensive live performance customization, enabling changes to multiple settings with a single footswitch press.

    Source
  • Users find that the vibe effect is more pronounced when placed before dirt pedals, while the vibrato's placement in the signal chain is less critical.

Great pedalboard friendly uni-vibe

It sounds great and isn't £400+ like some of the other alternatives. plus the tap tempo and the ratio knob are amazing features that can't be found on other uni-vibes. I definitely suggest getting this pedal.

psychobilly_max

Most feature laden Uni-Vibe pedal.

This pedal has everything right, it's a nice old school Uni-Vibe pedal, but it has nifty features like tap tempo and expression control. The price of this pedal is quite reasonable for what it does.

favorite uni-vibe

I forget what year I got it, but I was on tour in upstate NY when I got it. I based the 1st pedal I built, the Hendrixafier Mark 1, after this pedal's circuit, and have used both pedals ever since. great trustworthy pedal.

jorgealb91

Jimi Hendrix FTW

I like classic rock a lot, but lately I have been searching for seasick tones and the univibe gives it a very unique flavor different from a vibrato or a chorus.

"... I got my unicorn milk here (...)" (check around the 1:06 timestamp mark) Okay, this one I am unsure - the FX pedal is hidden inside a pill-shaped recipient and it does not look like anything I know of. Please correct this item if you know better.
