Earthquaker Devices Silos review: a surprisingly simple three-mode delay

guitar.com

EarthQuaker Devices' Silos is a refreshingly straightforward delay pedal that delivers three solid sounds—digital, analogue, and tape—at an attractive price point. Its compact design features handy tap-tempo and preset functions, making it user-friendly. However, the lack of modulation, particularly in the tape mode, leaves a noticeable gap, and the cramped dual footswitch layout might frustrate some players. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Silos excels in fidelity and offers an enjoyable tonal palette, making it a great choice for guitarists seeking a reliable, no-frills delay solution.

EarthQuaker Devices' Silos digital delay is a compelling mix of affordability and functionality, delivering diverse delay voices and user-friendly controls. With features like tap tempo and six presets, it excels in versatility, making it ideal for creative musicians. However, some may find the analog voices lack the richness they desire. At just $149, it effectively balances cost with quality, proving to be an attractive option for those seeking a capable delay pedal without breaking the bank.

Another delay pedal? But EarthQuaker Devices' Silos takes a best-of approach that has us very interested | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

EarthQuaker Devices' Silos is a compelling blend of digital, analog, and tape delay in a compact format, designed with simplicity in mind. Its three distinct delay modes offer a range of tonal options, from bright and crisp to dark and atmospheric, making it versatile for various playing styles. The straightforward control layout and the inclusion of six presets and tap-tempo functionality enhance its usability for musicians. However, while it excels in functionality, some users may find it lacks the depth of sound found in more specialized units. For $179, it stands as a solid choice for those seeking a reliable all-in-one delay pedal without compromising on quality.

A simple, brilliant, and flexible delay

This is a simple, brilliant, and flexible delay from EQD. It handles high gain extremely well, but also surpassed my expectations with clean sounds. As a fan of analogue delay I was expecting to enjoy but not love the analogue simulation, but it’s fantastic. I don’t hear enough people talk about how cool the ability to easily move from the manual setting to a preset is. I consider this one of my essential pedals.
