Joué Play MIDI controller review: A new take on MIDI control for players of all levels

musictech.com

The Joué Play MIDI controller blends innovative design and functionality, making it a standout for musicians of all skill levels. Its tactile pads and responsive touch controls allow for a genuinely creative experience, while its portability makes it a practical choice. However, the app's navigation leaves much to be desired, causing potential frustration for users trying to access various features. Nonetheless, for those eager to explore MPE capabilities, the Joué Play offers an affordable entry point into this advanced territory. It’s a fun, versatile tool that sparks musical inspiration, but it could benefit from a more user-friendly interface.

MPE controller review: Joué Play for Mac and iPad

9to5toys.com

The Joué Play impresses with its premium build quality and versatile design, making it a standout in the world of multi-touch MPE controllers. Its solid metal and wood construction, coupled with high-quality silicone pads, create a tactile experience that musicians will appreciate. The companion app offers a solid array of instruments, though the learning and recording features feel somewhat basic compared to competitors. While the Pro Edition's features are enticing, it's frustrating that they require a firmware update rather than being included at purchase. Overall, the Joué Play is a compelling choice for both casual users and those seeking a unique alternative input method, but it may leave serious producers wanting more from its educational resources.

Joué Play MIDI controller review: Free your fingers and format | Popular Science

popsci.com

Joué Play reinvents the MIDI controller with its visually stunning, modular design that encourages creative exploration. The combination of swappable silicone mats and a solid build allows musicians to easily switch between styles, inspiring new musical ideas. However, the accompanying app feels somewhat underdeveloped, limiting editing capabilities and making it less intuitive when transitioning from touch to mouse controls. Despite this drawback, Joué Play’s unique approach and affordable Pro upgrade for deeper customization make it a valuable tool for both beginners and seasoned pros looking to expand their creative horizons.

Smart MPE capable MIDI controller

I bought it for its MPE capabilities, i use it with all my soft synths. Build quality is nice. It's very expressive and easy to setup. One drawback is that a rubber pad you are using can sometimes slip out od its place, if you use too much force while sliding your finger.
