Keeley I Get Around Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

Keeley's I Get Around Rotary Simulator stands out for its realistic Leslie sounds and user-friendly controls, making it a valuable addition for guitarists seeking that classic rotary effect. With stereo ins and outs, it enhances the immersive experience significantly. However, the drive control might leave some wanting more responsiveness, especially at higher settings, and the multi-functionality of the slow-fast switch can be confusing for new users. For $299, it's a competitive option, but those who prefer a more intuitive interface might need to consider alternatives. Overall, it delivers a solid performance but with a couple of quirks that may not suit everyone.

Used for the Wurlitzer on "As Long As I've Got Music", as can be seen in this mini documentary of the making of "As Long As I've Got Music" (released May 14, 2024) at 8:07 and as specified by audio engineer Jason Peets at 7:58.

I think it's interesting to add, too, I mean, these are all guitar pedals, or guitar-based pedals, but our minds were always going to "What else can we use these on?", so you have throwing the rotary on the Wurlitzer and, you know, plugging in the pedals as inserts on some of the things we were recording is sort of how we creatively use guitar pedals in our day-to-day, so...

Keeley Rotary

$229.00 - $349.00

newer

The Rotary is a tweaked re-release of the I Get Around. Robert Keeley himself details the minor adjustments in a January 5, 2025 Reddit comment,

The I Get Around rotary has the exact same DSP (the sound effect essentially) as the new Rotary. The only difference is there is now a three way mid boost switch and the output jacks are reversed. The main difference is that those changes required two new circuit boards. A couple reasons for the change; a film cap made by Panasonic became obsolete and we discovered a few changes to the circuit which led to lower harmonic distortion and noise as well as an increase in the headroom of our dsp. Whew. A significant amount of sonic goodness came from those simple changes, however your IGA rotary will sound very, very similar because those changes/improvements are on a very fine level of detail.
