    Source

Comparisons

    Source
  • The Mesa Single Rectifier requires no additional overdrive pedals for metal tones, contrasting with Peavey 5150's reliance on boosters like OD808 or TS9 for optimal sound.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Single Rectifier is favored for its raw, articulated voice, especially when using KT77 tubes.

    Source
  • For Mastodon/Melvins/Redfang metal styles, users favor the Modern setting with bass at half, mids below half, and treble at three-quarters.

    Source
  • "Vintage Mode" provides compression, reducing volume for ear-safe bedroom use compared to "Modern Mode," which lacks compression and gets loud quickly.

At around 1:57/1:58 in this video of Limp Bizkit’s appearance at Rock Im Park 2001, a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 1x12 combo amplifier can be seen as a part of Wes Borland’s guitar rig. It can easily be distinguished as this amplifier based on its specific Mesa/Boogie logo that appears on other “Rectifier” models from Mesa/Boogie, as well as its size (it is around half the size of the Roland JC-120 amplifiers Wes is famous for using, therefore it is most likely a 1x12 combo rather than a 2x12).
