    Source

Features and functionality

  • The Silver Horse variant includes a "voice" switch, offering a choice between gold and silver Klon circuit emulations.

    Source

    Source

User experience

  • Users appreciate its versatility as a clean boost, overdrive, and treble booster despite noting it can be noisy.

    Source
  • Owners who set their Golden Horse with all controls at 10:00 reported a preferred sound, but seek additional gain from a RAT pedal for more distortion.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Owners who tried both prefer the Tumnus for its reliability and sound quality over the Mosky Golden Horse.

    Source
  • The Joyo Tauren is described as having a more compressed tone, whereas the Mosky Golden Horse is noted for a "boxed in" EQ, lacking bass and treble presence.

    Source

    Source
  • Described as providing a maxed-out mixing board distortion type sound when pushed, offering a unique flavor compared to other drives.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Works well when paired with a Big Muff for solos, enhancing its versatility in different pedal chains.

    Source
  • Works effectively as a treble booster to make humbuckers less muddy; can produce light fuzz when gain is up and volume is down.

    Source
  • Positioned at the front of the pedal chain, before compressor and EQ, for best results.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Users report different experiences when using the pedal with digital modeling amps compared to tube amps, suggesting that the latter offers better interaction.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • At $25, considered a worthwhile introduction to Klon circuits despite some tonal limitations.

Mosky Golden Horse Review - Gigs & Guitars

gigsandguitars.com

The Mosky Golden Horse offers an appealing budget-friendly alternative to the Klon pedal, excelling in low-gain and boost sounds while impressively maintaining its compact design. Priced around £20, it's a steal for those seeking affordability in their pedalboard. However, the build quality leaves something to be desired, with mini knobs that can be tricky to adjust on-the-fly and a somewhat less-than-crisp finish. While it shines as a set-and-forget option, gigging musicians may find its durability questionable in the long run. Overall, it's a decent choice for casual players but may fall short for those seeking premium craftsmanship.

Klon-A-Thon: Mosky Golden Horse vs Nux Horseman | Ultimate Guitar

ultimate-guitar.com

The Mosky Golden Horse delivers decent performance for its price, but it falls short when compared to its competitors, particularly the Nux Horseman. While it offers the essential Klon overdrive sound for around $30, it lacks features like dual modes and suffers from lower sound fidelity. For budget-conscious players, it’s usable, but the review suggests that investing slightly more for the superior Horseman will yield significantly better sound quality and construction. Overall, the Golden Horse may serve as a basic option, but it doesn’t hold up against its rivals.

Used as an overdrive pedal on the album "Waiting for the Daylight".

This one is called the Golden Horse. The guy said to me that it works best when you have another distortion pedal combined with it. I wouldn’t normally use this in my shows, but on the song Never Really Have You, I used this combined with a Mad Professor overdrive. So I was using this one and the Chinese one. Finland and China combined together! (laughs!) So that was for the slide guitar. But it doesn’t always have to be so compressed and so distorted, it depends on what you’re doing and what you want.
