Critic Reviews

Review: Mosky MM Silver Overdrive | by Alex Lynham | postguitar | Medium

medium.com

This affordable overdrive pedal delivers impressive sound quality reminiscent of higher-end models, making it a strong contender in the budget-friendly category. The Mosky MM Silver Overdrive features a 2-band EQ that enhances tonal flexibility, allowing for a fuller frequency response. However, it does introduce some noise when using a cheap power supply, though this can largely be mitigated with an isolated one. Overall, while it may not completely replicate the original Timmy, it stands out as a worthy alternative for those seeking a great sound without breaking the bank. At around £20, it's hard to argue against its value.

Super Underated!

This is a super underrated pedal in my opinion! It’s inexpensive, versatile, small, it sounds great, and works really with stacked with other pedals! The mid section is really nice. If you decrease the highs and lows you get dark wooly mids. Increase the highs and lows and you get a more even full sound with plenty of lows, mids, and highs available. You won’t be able to scoop this pedal as the mids are always present. This pedals clips super well with an almost fuzzy characteristic. You can go from a clean boost to a heavy overdrive. I find myself stacking fuzzes and distortions with this pedal constantly. It’s one of my favorite overdrives and it gets used a ton!

A nice shot at the Timmy

The Mosky MM Silver is clearly a clone of the famous Timmy Overdrive. It is rather well done in terms of general quality, apart from the loose jack sockets. Like the original Timmy, this drive is transparent and is also well adapted for a bass, with two knobs for bass and treble that are rather cuts and help to adjust the sound. After noon, the drive is a bit noisy but I do like it. You can stack it, it is powerful and really nice. It is also the kind of pedal that is very sensitive to your strings attack, which I really appreciate. For guitar players still looking for a drive for their taste, it is also a good opportunity if you find a cheap one (like 20$) on the used market to test a Timmy clone before actually buying one (because it is obviously worth it).

Clone of the Timmy Overdrive

I never used a Timmy - but this Mosky Clone rocks. Goes from almost transparent (not as transparent as the Mosky Golden Horse a.k.a. Klon-Clone) to wild distortion. The Bass and Treble Knobs work, but I wish they would be more drastic. As with all Mosky pedals. Not only for the price they are good. The ARE good!
