The Obi Magix 6000

The Obi Magix 6000 Controller is a dedicated hardware controller designed to simplify editing and performance on Oberheim Matrix-series synthesizers, including the Matrix 6, Matrix 6R and Matrix 1000. These classic synths notoriously rely on menu-diving and cumbersome button interfaces for parameter editing; the Magix 6000 replaces that with direct, tactile knob control for dozens of parameters. With the controller, you can assign and adjust up to 72 different synth parameters via the rotary knobs, making sound design much faster and more intuitive. It connects via standard MIDI to your Oberheim unit and typically requires a 9 V DC power supply (adapter not included). This controller was sold mainly in the 1980s alongside the rack and keyboard versions of the Matrix series and is now a sought-after item on the used market for vintage synth enthusiasts. Because it’s a niche vintage accessory, detailed official specs are limited and listings usually show only a handful of basic details.
