Old Blood Noise Endeavors upgrades the Excess V2 Distorting Modulator with more controls and a smaller enclosure | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Old Blood Noise Endeavors' EXCESS V2 Distorting Modulator packs a punch with its versatile blend of distortion, modulation, and delay effects in a compact format. The pedal's expanded controls allow musicians to explore a wide spectrum of sounds, from subtle overdrive to complex harmonized delays. However, while the modulation offers intriguing possibilities, its maximum delay time may limit those seeking longer effects. Overall, the EXCESS V2 is a creative tool for adventurous guitarists, but it might not satisfy everyone’s need for extended delay sounds.

Old Blood Noise Endeavors' EXCESS V2 Distorting Modulator shines with its remarkable flexibility, offering multiple modulation options and routing capabilities that excite even the most seasoned players. The independent controls for modulation and distortion, combined with three types of modulation effects, allow for an impressive range of sounds. However, while the pedal delivers impressive tones, the distortion can become overwhelming if not carefully dialed in. At $209, it’s not the cheapest option on the market, but for those willing to explore its depths, the payoff could be substantial. Ultimately, the EXCESS V2 is a delightful addition for adventurous musicians, though it may demand a bit of patience to fully master.

An instant 80s rock machine

I bought this for the fifth shift up (used as a harmony, not a delay)—which is great— but honestly the whole thing is great. The Distortion circuit is top notch. It’s based on a Rat, but it has way more juice than the Rat does.
