Description
Looking to add dimension and depth to your guitar sound? The Origin Effects Cali76 Stacked Edition is your gateway to studio-quality compression in a compact, user-friendly format. This pedal elegantly bridges the gap between single-stage and dual-stage compression, allowing you to craft everything from subtle dynamics control to lush, sustained tones. The beauty of the Cali76 Stacked Edition lies in its dual FET compressor design, where each stage can be fine-tuned independently for attack and release, giving you unprecedented control over your sound.
The pedal's standout feature is its 'Thru' knob, which determines how much signal passes from the first to the second compressor, offering a wide spectrum of tonal possibilities. Whether you're after the crisp clarity of a single-stage compressor or the robust fullness of a dual-stage setup, this pedal has you covered. The independent LED VU meters provide visual feedback, so you know exactly how hard each stage is working.
Use it to subtly enhance your clean tones or crank it up for that coveted "clean overdrive" effect—your sonic landscape is entirely customizable. The Cali76 Stacked Edition also includes a Dry blend control, allowing you to mix in your uncompressed signal for added detail and nuance, a technique cherished by studio engineers. Hand-assembled with premium components, this pedal promises not just performance but also reliability for discerning musicians.

Great quality, but is it just a toy
There is a hell of a lot of sounds available here, from boosted/overdriven tones to springy compression. But I'm not sure that's really what anyone wants in a stompbox compressor... In general compressors are set and forget kind of pedals so spending so much money on a pedal that in most cases you only want to feel and not hear just doesn't feel right. I would say this is a great studio tool, but in fairness a good studio will have things far superior. As much fun as this pedal is, and as great as it sounds it some how always left underwhelmed, tweaking settings and trying to get things to fit in just right. In the end I decided it wasn't for me. It was too toy like, I managed to have some fun with it but it never amounted to anything.

The Sound
This is how we lay clean, tight guitar and bass parts - this thing is always on, writing, tracking, performing.
Does both: grabs peaks on way in and the second stage sustains, so all those rhythmic nuances and harmonics come out through the amp.
Very dynamic piece, once you’ve got your ‘always on’ sound, lots of different ways it responds to playing style and input gainstaging eg. roll off guitar volume knob
