    Source
  • Some guitars have minor finish flaws, with frets not crowned properly and tuners mounted slightly crooked, which is unexpected at this price point.

    Source
  • The Rick-O-Sound output allows for stereo separation of pickups, though many users don't utilize it.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The 370's tone is described as "hollow jangle," distinct from other single-coils and lacking the sustain of a Les Paul or Strat.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The guitar's unique jangle sound is ideal for replicating tones from bands like R.E.M. and Tom Petty, though it's not versatile for all genres.

"1966 Rickenbacker 370: a great guitar for power chords. If you plug this up into a Marshall Superlead stack or a Vox AC-30 you will be transported to a Who gig at Leeds Community College. The guitar is in its original mapleglo finish. The most interesting fact about the Rickenbacker guitar company is that they made the first electric guitar lap steel in the 1920?s and despite being associated with British acts in the 60?s the company is as American as apple pie," says Joe Bonamassa, on his website.

The original bridge single coil pickup is replaced with a Strat-ish one while the middle pickup looks stock and does not seem to have any changes to it. Since the electronics was resoldered to give a wider range of sounds, the guitar has an additional switch added and the original one displaced (instead there’s a 6th control knob).
