Johnny Marr is confirmed to use a Rickenbacker 340, as evidenced by several photographs published by NME in 2022, showing him performing with The Killers using both his Fender Jaguar and the Rickenbacker 340. Additionally, in his book Marr's Guitars, Marr recounts an anecdote where a friend informed him about a Rickenbacker 340 for sale that Marr had previously signed in the 1990s during a promotional tour with his band Electronic. Conveniently, since the seller was located in Canada and Marr's tour with The Killers began in Vancouver, he was able to retrieve the guitar at their first show.

Peter Buck used the Rickenbacker 340 during R.E.M.'s late 1985 European tour, as seen in a video uploaded by StephenQdoo on YouTube titled "R.E.M. Can't Get There From Here HQ." According to a Twitter exchange with Mike Mills, the guitar was not used during their U.S. shows.

This Rickenbacker 340 stayed in Todd's live guitar arsenal until at least the 1981 "Camouflage" tour as a backup in case The Fool decided to act up.

In an article by Kathleen Johnson for Vintage Guitar® magazine, Jonathan Wilson discusses using his dad's Rickenbacker 340/12.

Marty Willson-Piper owns and uses a Rickenbacker 340, notable for its Fireglo finish, three toaster pickups, dot fretboard, slash F-hole, Grover machine heads, and an added wraparound Tune-O-Matic tailpiece. This guitar, despite being broken in half in Minneapolis and later dropped in Freiburg, Germany, was repaired by Rickenbacker. It was prominently used on Noctorum's album "The Afterlife."

In an interview with Reverb, Brian Henneman of The Bottle Rockets discussed trading his Rickenbacker 340 for a friend's 12-string version. Henneman noted that both guitars found more suitable homes, with his friend appreciating the 340's retirement from touring.

At 0:25 of this YouTube video of the Super Furry Animals performing at Glastonbury 2007, Huw Bunford can be seen with a Fireglo Rickenbacker 340 6-string model.

In their AudioTree Live session Corey Coffman uses this guitar exclusively. He was also seen in photographs using this guitar for recording their albums.

In the video for Squeeze's "Tempted," at minute 4:14, Chris Difford is seen playing a Rickenbacker 325 Fireglow with an F-hole, not a Rickenbacker 340.
