Critic Reviews

Review: Roli Lumi Keys Musical Keyboard | WIRED

wired.com

The Roli LUMI impresses with its colorful, light-up keys and compact design, making it a fun introduction for beginners. However, its small keys and frequent technical issues—like unresponsive notes—detract from the experience. While the accompanying app offers engaging lessons, the subscription model feels steep for what’s offered. Ultimately, it straddles the line between a toy and a serious tool, leaving users questioning its long-term value.

Roli Lumi review: a portable keyboard that lights the way for first-time musicians - The Verge

theverge.com

The Roli LUMI is a visually appealing and engaging keyboard designed for beginners, boasting a unique interface reminiscent of Guitar Hero that makes learning fun. However, its mushy keys and dependency on the app limit its effectiveness as a serious learning tool. While the eclectic music catalog is a highlight, the reliance on a subscription model to access the full experience raises questions about value. Ultimately, the LUMI is a charming entry point for aspiring musicians, but it may not sustain their interest or progress in the long run.

Nice portable gadget for live performing keyboardists

Starting from keys' pressure and shift sound bending, I like the lighting fx combinations which can turn an ordinary live event into something memorable and engaging. Good battery life, quality and zero latency with Bluetooth connections (but without so many Roli sound banks to connect and app to manage them, especially midi config & selection on a phone: too small and practically unusable).
