In the video "Aphex Twin - Live @ Osmoze, Paris 1993" by Luan Corrêa on YouTube, Aphex Twin can be seen using the Sequential Circuits Studio 440. It's clearest between about 8:49 to 11:15. At one pont you can even see the model number and branding on the back of the unit.
In a photo from Subconscious Studios, a Sequential Circuits Studio 440 can be seen, indicating its use by cEvin Key.
In this pic on Dan's Twitter, we see his machines including the Sequential Circuits Studio 440. Dan says “Yeah it all starts with the drums sometimes.”
"For the drums I use mainly Akai MPC3000 and STUDIO440 from sequential circuits"
"I basically used everything you can think of except the Synclavier. I wrote and programmed most of the stuff here on the 9000 and the Studio 440 then transferred all the drum parts to a Fairlight III via a Simmons converter. For one song the basic program was on a Linn, then I had a clap from the Emulator, a bass drum from the Fairlight and a conga from the DX. Which meant I was using the Fairlight as a bass drum."
BOTH CLIMIE AND Fisher have their own separate home set-ups. These have Fostex B16's, A&H mixing desks and recently acquired D50's in common, but very little else. Climie works mainly with the Sequential Studio 440 linked to a Macintosh run Performer sequencing program, while Fisher prefers the Atari based Steinberg Pro24 driving a combination of DX7, TX802, Akai S900 and LinnDrum. Between them they also have a full complement of effects including the Roland SRV2000 ("thoroughly recommended") and the Yamaha REX50.
